Default Smoking when cold

My miata smokes black smoke after a cold start until it gets to operating temp, then it's fine. Is there anything I can do about this? Could base fuel pressure be too high? It's Not running rich at idle according to my wideband.

It doesn't seem to be causing any problems, it's just kind of annoying.

Thanks,
SamS

What does it run at idle? What is your idle pressure?

You should get your miata to quit smoking, it causes cancer.

Thats interesting though, again more specifics of your idling are needed. It could be a few things.

Under more careful observation, I believe it's blue smoke. There is a small oil leak at the turbo where it bolts to the downpipe. It leaves a puddle about the size of a quarter overnight.

I remember reading that some oil was normal, but this seems a bit excessive.
