Run what I have or upgrade?
I have a GT2871 with a Tial turbine housing that I was originally planning on using on my setup (AbsurdFlow EWG manifold/DP). One thing that has me a little worried about this turbo is that there are a few nicks/dents on some of the turbine blades. I've been told they resemble balancing marks, but I don't think so.
What do y'all think?
The other thing I don't like about this turbo is the compressor housing. It's tiny! The inlet is setup to put an adapter on it which I'm not a big fan of and the outlet is only 2", when I'd like to run 2.5".
Now, if the turbine blades are in fact in good condition I could just purchase something like this to step up in size. T04S frame .70 A/R Compressor housing for GT3071R/GT2871R 71mm 56 trim wheel : atpturbo.com
The other option would be to switch turbos. I can pick up a PTE 5858 from a buddy for a good price. I can also consider getting something else. Before everyone starts saying "EFR! EFR!", the first size of EFR that is EWG is the 7163 and it costs a pretty penny (it's compressor housing outlet is also 2" which I'd preffer 2.5").
Thing is I don't want a "peaky" setup. I'd like the car to have decent power under the curve and not have high boost threshold or lag. I understand this depends on my motor, which is a 1.9L with a BP4W head (+1mm intake/exhaust valves, SuperTech 56 lbs springs, MSM intake cam) (More info on my setup here https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...ainbows-77339/). This is the first Miata I've owned that I will be doing FI to; all my turbo knowledge comes from the Evo world and things are quite different over there lol.

If whoever sold it to you told you they are balancing marks then all credibility goes out the window as that person is full of ****.. What did they use a hammer to "balance" the wheel? Truth is that turbo chewed something up, probably put some runout on the shaft and that person is trying to get some money out of it.
You can try deburing the edges however it would **** up the balance more.

Damn. So after doing some research the PTE vband isn't the same as the Tial Vband. The PTE's OD is slightly bigget than the Tial so I wont be able to get a complete seal around it. So it's back to the drawing board on what turbo I'll use.
