Noob Turbo help
Alright, so I was GIVEN this Garrett gt2560, I think, and I'd like to know if this is a good turbo to build from? I don't know anything about it other than the waste gate doesn't open. If you could point me in the right direction as to finding more info about it or if it's even worth building off of I'd aprreciate it. It spins freely, has little shaft play. I plan on rebuilding it anyway though. Also the exhaust side where the exhaust exits has me puzzled. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is going to be a bumpy road for you, if you keep up like this.
You will get shredded, your intelligence will be questioned, and you will most likely leave offended.
Go read the stickies. All of them. In every section. Then read a bunch of build threads. No posting until after that.
Learn from my mistakes.
PS,
A free turbo is the worst kind to base a build around.

ok, so the GT2560 part you definately need to search on that. its a super common turbo to use.
However, the turbo you have is not the typical 2560 unit to use. That turbo is from an Isuzu NPR 4cyl diesel engine(or something similar). It is a GT2560s which is journal bearing rather than the more commonly used GT2560r ball bearing turbo. It has the different exhaust housing on it also. I have one of these at home right now. I fit mine with the turbine housing from a SR20 T25 to get the common inlet and outlet flange. That way you can just grab a manifold and downpipe setup from a place like Flyin Miata or whomever.
Start by carefully pulling the exhaust housing and compressor housings off. You will want to inspect them to make sure they are ok. Then you can go about rebuilding it or getting it rebuilt. any journal bearing T25 rebuild kit should work. Dont forget about getting the shaft and wheels rebalanced when rebuilding.
Once you get the T25 housing on it, you will have to make a wastegate actuator mount for it since the one on this one will not bolt up.
But the most important thing is to search, read and learn so that you dont majorly **** up.
