Need quick Help - identify this AN Fitting Size
I have some -AN fittings, but i'm not sure what size it is. I measured the Major Diameter of the threads with a set of calipers and it's 0.75 inch.
I searched google, but i can't find any good schematics.
Is this -AN 8 or -AN 10?
Here is a picture of a fitting, and what I measured. It's not the actual one I have.

I may look like an idiot here but that sounds like an -8 to me, all my stuff is 8 or 6 and that seems about the size of an 8. what is it on?? or for??? I also believe you measure AN fittings to the inside diameter, not the thread size.

i always thought that the an number stands for hose diameter. The fittings always looks bigger in diameter.
i just found this site here.
Plumbing Products
according to the chart
-AN 8 has a thread size of 3/4-16 SAE
-AN 10 has a thread size of 7/8-14 SAE
-AN 12 has a thread size of 1 1/16-12 SAE
For that thread size nomenclature, is that first number the major diameter of the thread?
