Need help on choosing turbo for NA8
Hey there,
Recently, I have come upon two turbo kits that I am interested for my 1995 Miata with a1.8L engine. Interested if anyone has any suggestions or tips
1: Garrett GT3076R, artech turbo kit with pretty much everything including a mspnp2 except the midpipe and the muffler, wondering how much it would cost to get one custom made 3 inch?
2: MKTurbo DIY Kit with CXRacing intercooler, brand new
I have questions about running the GT3076R on low boost. My goals are only 220whp, stock motor, stock transmission, upgraded clutch.and radiator
The GT3076R is a big turbo and I feel like its overkill for my needs. Will it have lots of lag if I run it at a low boost setting, like 5psi and will I have any problems like boost creep or anything?
If that kit, I will get a magnaflow 3inch muffler and have a muffler shop weld a midpipe on
Thanks for your time

It'd be worth mentioning if you plan on having a built motor or simply turbocharging a stock motor.
a gt3076r for a goal of 220 hp is overkill
a gt3076r on a stock motor is a bit wild
a gt3076r for the purpose of running 5psi Is a bit counter productive
I'd be looking more along the lines of a Garrett 2554r/2560r. The gt3076r is just really more so for goals well into the mid to deep 300s

I would listen to what others have said on here.
The 3076 size turbo is a great turbo, just very wrong for your goals. I can tell you from practical experience as I've run that size turbo in chinese version and was very pleased. I have even swapped to the larger gtx3576 churbo, but my goals are very different from yours. For what you want I would be looking for at most a 51mm or even smaller compressor inducer.
