Need to build using one of the turbos that I have at hand
Ok here goes. I am in the midst of building a 1999 1.8L miata. I have various turbos left over from previous projects. My budget is limited, as such I will do virtually all the work myself. The car has been taken apart and sits as I am rebuilding the suspension. The engine has 175000 km (110k miles) on it. It is is good order and it is a six speed. I have bits and pieces (bovs, turbo timer, boost controller, oil cooler, an fittings and lines, 440cc rx8 injectors, a bunch of turbos) . I have yet to buy an exhaust manifold, ECU, exhaust system and an intercooler. I am considering mega squirt though I cannot get the plug and play. For the sake of reliability I am going with a cast manifold T3 probably an ebay job (the only thing that I will be getting from ebay). I have a family and cannot make great investments into all new nice shiny parts (If only). The Turbos that I have sitting are as follows. ihi rhb5, Rx7 FC turbo, Rb20 Hitachi bb ceramic max 14lbs boost, Evo7 TD05HRA-16G6-9.8T . If need be I can get my hands on an rb25 turbo which is also ceramic bb with a max boost of 14lbs.
The motor is stock inside and out currently. Naturally, I will be doing support mods which I am not concerned with here. Please keep in mind that I live in Japan and the market and pricing of parts are completely different. I live in an mountainous area. The roads are narrow and twisty. This is meant to be a very quick agile road car. I am aiming for the present to increase midrange torque as much as I can. I am looking for power over the power band not peak power. Insofar as hp is considered somewhere in the 250 to 280 range (at the flywheel) is what I am hoping for. Please let me know what you think about the potential and drawbacks.
