Default Michigan dyno tuning

Hello everyone i will have my turbo build done in a couple months. I am ordering megasquirt this weekend so i can install it when im n/a. that way I can have some experience tuning. After I go turbo I will set up a reliable street tune. But I would like to get it dyno tuned eventually. Anyone know of an experience ms tuner in Michigan preferably in the Detroit metro area?

I'm not familiar with who actually has experience with Megasquirt. Obviously it's better if they have MS experience, but I would think if you show up with your laptop already connected and your spark map up, it's just a matter of clicking a cell and hitting < or >. Fueling can be done on the street, and the rest of the tune is really best to learn yourself. I would rather find someone with Miata specific experience, to know how the knock trace may differ from other cars, etc. Again I also don't know who has Miata experience. Maybe call Fab9 and see who Bryan uses.

I do know some guys at Boost Controlled Performance, and they know what they are doing overall. I also have a Spec Miata friend that goes to a dyno for pretty cheap, I'll ask him when he get's back at his desk. But I think it's near the Wixom area.

If you need any personal MS help when you get it running, rather than asking on the forums, let me know. I'm over in Farmington Hills and have been running MS for almost 4 years. Which version are you ordering?

Yea I know what you mean about the tables, MS is pretty simple. I am ordering ms2pnp. That would be great if you would ask him for me. I will let you know if I am in need of any help.

Bryan doesn't use MS though, so I'm unsure if his tuner would.

These guys might know someone close.

In my opinion, there is only one shop that gives fantastic dyno tunes. I have had experiences with many of the major shops, and by a HUGE margin, Pure Tuning, in Ohio (its close to the border) gives very meticulous tunes. You pay for it, they aren't cheap, but it's a rock solid tune, good power.

Russell Culver @Dead Hook Motorsports in Troy can tune Megasquirt. He does amazing things in the Ecoboost world, but he most likely doesn't have much experience tuning miata's specifically (though they seem stupid easy to tune).

I think if you already have a basemap the price goes down significantly. Looks like $150/hr for dyno time. Most in the area is around $200/hr.

Quick update: I have had ms installed for a few weeks now. I have the idle set pretty good it still hast a slight shudder every no and then. But if i am at a lower rpm and give it some gas real quick the rpm drops quick and then accelerates normally. Its almost like it wants to die for a split second. Im thinking it has to do with acceleration enrichment because my afrs shot rich when it does it.

Corbin Johnson in indiana is a beast he works out of Fathouse Fab right now ... I normally avoid michigan for getting my car tuned. Short drive and well worth it he will be tuning my 2jz miata coming up and has tuned many cars for me in the past. He also has tuned a few megasquirt miatas fairly recently.

Yep, acceleration enrichment is likely the culprit. Use datalogs to figure out how much fuel should be added/removed at different pedal velocities (tpsdot).
