Default Megasquirt EBC VS. Turbosmart Manual Boost Controller

I'm trying to decide between these two methods of boost control for my turbo setup.

What are the pros and cons of each?

Manual: easy to set up. Probably won't spool as well. No variable boost. No boost by gear, no adjustable boost.

Ebc: harder to setup. Does everything else better.

And megasquirt EBC isn't even all that hard to set up.

MBC sucks.

I've literally never used MBC.

Each works just fine. Only ever had 1 mbc go bad or have issues. Had several EBC issues over the years.

You didnt state if you actually had a megasquirt ecu. Do you have one on your setup? I know some may say its a dumb question but its worth asking because some dont realize the ms ebc is meant to work with the aftermarket ecus.

Yes, I do have a megasquirt. Sounds like I'm going to go with EBC, when you say it's more difficult to setup do you mean mechanically or tuning wise?

EBC enables throttle-based boost control, which is super useful for improving the drivability of turbo cars in corners.

I still live in the dark ages, and the last time I used megasquirt EBC was with MS1 and it wasn't that great. Swapped to a simple MBC and have no regrets. For me, having EBC on a DD is nice, but I can't justify the buy in cost for the valve, associated wiring, setting up megasquirt, tuning, etc. It is just simpler to use a MBC and forego the time spent setting everything up. I don't need the extra spool speed, won't use boost by gear, and if I want to change the boost amount, I just turn a ****.

OP should invest time in learning real quick how each works so that he doesn't continue asking really dumb ignorant questions and we get testy with him

Then we can move on to discussing legitimate questions, like which would actually be the best for his goals.
