Kinugawa td04 19t? Any experience?
Hey guys, I'm new here, but not necessarily new to cars. I've had one turbo car in the past, an STi. I recently acquired a 1990 Miata in excellent condition, but it definitely seems like it could use some more power in the future.
I live in southwest Michigan, and frequent Gingerman raceway in the summer time, so I'd like something that could give a little more "oompf" on the track, yet still be reliable for daily driving. I've been poking around and searching a lot, but haven't specifically seen anyone using this turbo. The Suby community seems to like them, and claim they're much better than the typical Chinacharger.
I'd only be looking for just over 200whp, and plan on using MSpnp for engine management. Probably using the begi manifold and downpipe combo, as well.

Thats the turbo in question, so if anyone has any experience or input, I'd love to hear what your thoughts are.
Thanks in advance!

Thats pretty much what I have on my car. And what greddy supplied for years. If you are going to buy new though go with a T3 chinacharger. Check out the MK Turbo setup in the for sale area. Would be exactly what you need.

19T is a very common compressor upgrade in the saab world from the stock 15t. very little difference in lag (on a 2.3L) and a good 40-50hp increase.
I would try and find a version with a 6 or a 7cm2 hot side vs the 5cm2 you listed.
My saab runs a stock 15t with a 5cm2 hotside on a 2.3 with a 6300 redline. They produce very high egts on my car although I get full boost at just over 2000rpm

Do not build your turbo setup around a specific turbo because you think that one turbo will be good or you can get it cheap. This is especially true if you are not hand building the manifold and downpipe. Buy a quality manifold and downpipe first. The go find the turbo that will match those parts and will make the power you want.

The only car stock I know of that it came on was the 2000 Volvo V70R.
People in the past used to take the compressor wheel itself and machine out stock compressor housings to make it fit. Now we just use an ebay turbo with the bigger hotside (6 or 7) and get it rebalanced or but the wheel/matching compressor housing and put that on a stock turbo as it is much cheaper.
Haven't heard many complaints about the 19t in the Volvo/saab world other than on a stock Volvo 5cyl its better to use a 18t as the 19t produces much more torque at the same rpm because of the minor difference in lag.
Also to be noted both the saab and Volvo turbos are TD04HL frames vs the td05h
edit: For reference here is a saab version on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TD04HL-19T-U...b34cd1&vxp=mtr
and just the wheel/housing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAAB-9-3-9-5...5fbe05&vxp=mtr

That outlet flange is not a stock t25 outlet. It is 4 bolt while the Begi/FM downpipes use 5 bolt flanges.

Thanks again for all the input. I'd also been considering the sturovo manifold/downpipe combo and using a standard WRX turbo, but I'm not sure if it'd be economical to get that setup shipped to America. I'll probably stick to the begi combo, and keep my eyes peeled for a used Garrett, possibly even just go for the Chinacharger begi has on their website.
