Default Info about stock knock sensor

Hi fellows,
we're planning to do an interesting tuning on a 1.8 BP. It's a 1994 NA.
However the customer asked us to think about some redundancy/fail control, and to monitor the knock.
It is possible to install the NB knock sensor on a NA block?
Anyone has already tried this?
In which way the knock sensor works? Without information, we tend to think about the knock will close wiring (or open) only when knock detected, but it's like guess-pointing.
Please consider that the ECU is fully programmable and already allow for knock control.

NB knock sensor will swap over and fit onto a NA block with no problems. I believe it is just 2 wires. Ground and signal wire to the ECU. What ECU are you running?

442 motorsport electronic.
We was wondering if the boss in wich the sensor goes was already threaded and plugged or if was full casted and must being drilled and threaded.
Does the sensor tip goes into oil for batter monitoring (like 90's renault?) or just plain metal-metal pinging trasmission?

Metal-to-metal. It is not in an oil port but very close to it.

I believe I've read that the factory oil pressure sensor on the NA is too big and won't fit with the NB knock sensor installed in the NB factory location. Can anyone confirm this, I it would be something the OP would want to keep in mind.

I can confirm that on a vvt block with the vvt oil routing I am able to use a NA oil pressure sender and a stock nb knock sensor and neither hit each other.

Update regarding fitment with the NB knock sensor and na oil pressure sensor. Mine does not fit. The knock sensor is just a little too think to get in there. I did buy this sensor off eBay so perhaps a real OEM one does fit.

That looks fairly OEM sized. They don’t produce very high voltage, you’re lucky to get 1v with extreme knock. I might suggest a decent knock sensor that’ll give you valuable 0-5 volt info and there are plenty of places to mount one on a BP block

Well if I can't get it to work, oh well I guess. In the meantime I made an extension so we'll see how this works.
