Default gt35r experiance

i'm trying to get some feed back. i want to put a gt35r in my vr6. first off is there a difference between a t3 and t4 turbine, or that's just the flange. what turbine and a/r would get me 400whp easily at low boost. i was thinking goind with a t4 turbine with a .69 a/r

I'd ask over on vw vortex... not a miata forum, even though people here are very knowledgeable, I think vw people will know more about this.

Pretty sure WOT uses a full TO4E or atleast he planned to though he might have gone for something more like a SC60 instead. Can't remember. I know the VW guys roll home big *** turbos though.

Wierd you ask that question here but since I own and have built a few boosted Vr6's I will give you my take. The 35R is not worth the $600 over what a T4 60-1 costs. Take that money and guy a spare trans as you WILL ruin one. The 60-1 compressor wheel is enough for 500 whp. The most popular software solution is C2 Motorsports 42 lb program which supports just under 450 whp. Go with a .69 or .81 housing so that boost comes on a little softer and keeps the teeth on 3rd gear. The T4 60-1 should get you 400 whp at right around 18-20 psi....maybe less if you are running a set of cams and full 3" exhaust. If you need any turbo Vr6 parts or other advice I am your guy. Instant message me on AIM. My name on there is Wideopentuning. Heres some pics for you though...

Buddys old setup.....just sold it for $2500 with the full 3" exhaust

Damn thats a really really nice gti. I was thinking about getting one of those and boosting it down the line.

How would you say they handle in comparison to a miata, say in a canyon? Total pigs? Or still lots of fun? Thats the only reason that I am not too sure about these cars, although the one you have looks like it would be a complete hoot just because of the huge power.

They are a blast as long as you have a Quaife or Peloquin LSD. Its absolutely key. Turns a sterotypical FWD car into something that will actually tighten its line as you feed in more throttle at the apex. A big rear swaybar helps things as well. They do fine on a road course or canyon run but when you do something really tight like autocross the Miata is going to just mop up. Doing the european front end stuff and ditching the AC helps get them down below 2800 lbs so with 300-325 whp not much on the street will touch you. The gearing is awesome so they just ******* tear **** up on the freeway. 2nd is good for 73 MPH. I have done 135 in 4th and 149 in 5th with about 1500 rpms to go.
