GT2560R?

GT2560R?
I'm a turbo virgin; never been in a turbo'd car. I've decided I wanted to turbo my 1.6 Miata, and started slowly piecing together a turbo kit from used parts I can find on FB Marketplace and in Miata B/S/T groups.
Found a GT2560R listed in a B/S/T group and bought it. Being a turbo virgin, I didn't really ask many questions or do any research. All I knew is that the GT2560R is about the best turbo you can run on a stock motor, and since it was listed in a Miata B/S/T group, I assumed it came off a Miata. Received it in the mail and quickly realized something was fishy. The first thing I noticed was that there were studs on the exhaust inlet flange. Every picture I can find on the interwebs show that the GT2560R shouldn't have studs on the flange. I scored a BEGI turbo manifold a while back and it's been sitting in the garage. I went to put the turbo next to the manifold and quickly noticed the studs on the turbo were a lot smaller in diameter than the studs on the manifold. I've heard you can find GT2560R stock on Nissan motors, so I'm thinking this turbo might be from that. How would I get this to work on a Miata?

I've also inquired about the wastegate actuator that came on my turbo on a Miata Discord. I looked up the part number on the sticker and the only result I can find is that it is from a GT2860, and person on Discord said something about the turbo needing to be reclocked to fit a Miata, therefore, causing the wastegate to not fit properly.

If it's a 2860r it will still work very well with a Miata. The turbine wheel is the higher flowing 9 blade and that will add a little bit of lag but nothing bad, you'll see full boost around 3600-4100 depending on gear. You know you can remove those studs right? If you get a begi manifold just remove the studs off the turbo and use studs in the manifold itself. And yes you'll need to clock the turbo to make it fit, that's not a big deal it's very easy to do so.

I am not sure if it will work for you, but I have a Garrett 2560 for sale that needs a rebuild. It could also fix your whole skyline proprietary downpipe situation. Turbo is in awesome condition aside from the whole burning oil situation. But again, I am not sure if you could use parts from it for your turbo or not, you would have to check on that.
Check my for sale thread here:

- This GT2560R is the factory turbocharger that is fitted to the JDM Nissan S15 200SX.
- This Turbocharger can also be known as the "GT28R", "GT2860R" or "S15 Ball Bearing" turbocharger. The Garrett model designation though is GT2560R, as it runs a T25 turbine wheel, and a 60mm Exducer Compressor wheel.
