Default gasket question

do i need a gasket between the turbo and manifold, and/or one between the turbo and the down pipe?

No. They tend to fail when made of anything but copper and even then they tend to fail. If your components are flat enough, just bolt them up. If they're true you should be fine. You can check them with a flat ruler to make sure they're not super warped. If they need machining it would probably be around $50 or less to get the mani, turbo, downpipe machined flat.
