Default Garrett in trouble.

Bad news for consumers of small frame turbos. If Garrett goes away, or drastically reduces R&D budget, innovation will slow across the entire market. As somebody who works in R&D hardware for a publicly traded company, the ONLY thing that gets R&D budget is market share and growth. Without competition, there simply is no motivation to invest.

Honeywell is a horrible company. If they cannot get punishing cost reductions from the suppliers to the companies they buy, they will otherwise drive the acquisitions into the ground.

This I totally believe. I have no direct experience with Honeywell, but am familiar with other companies that follow this same model.

Good chance it might go in exactly the opposite direction. If they go belly-up and stop production for a while so that they can re-organize, demand could easily exceed supply. Even if they start production again, they would probably focus production on stuff their major clients want. It would be wise of them not to produce the small-batch low-volume stuff. Not sure if your particular turbo falls into that category, it'd depend a lot on who their major clients are after the re-org. Especially if they screw those clients.

It's Chapter 11. No big deal, happens all the time. Sucks to be holding outstanding bills against them. I'll pay attention if they go Chapter 7...

I had this thought too but I thought if I at least project the opposite into the turbo gods I may save a couple pennies. Worst case could be that efr become even more widely used.
