Will $60 shipped get us there? Feel free to cut it in half. Maybe just make a big line on it with a sharpie before you cut it so I can line the halves up before welding, and cut it in a straight part of the 3" tube.

Second ever TIG welding job. No expert by any means, but far better than last time around.
Going to scuff it all down and spray with some rustproofing stuff tonight to protect the galvanized as well as the aluminized stuff we uncovered while welding.

Nah dude it's great. Form follows function.
Your marks were actually really good. two on the top and one on the bottom, we lined the two up, tacked it, lined the bottom one up, tacked it, bent it a bit to line them up better, then tacked it like 5 times and then took it to the TIG.
There was a tiny little tab in the cut that also helped line it up really well, looked like where you had to reset the saw, or where the two cuts came together or something. Worked like a charm.
