EFR6258-A Question
I am itching to upgrade my setup to an EFR 6258 and found what seems to me a great deal on the turbo.
https://thmotorsports.com/i-2283113....yABEgLKqfD_BwE
I just want to make sure that its the correct model T25, and same one TSE is using....?
do i need anything else added to this turbo besides oil/water lines and fittings?
I already have manifold and dp covered.

you can add the rpm sensor if you really want to get into tuning, but i'm not using it. idk how many people really use it. Follow TSE instructions for mounting it, if you can find them online, or i think Full race has some info. but theres something about the waterinlet being higher or lower than the outlet. I forget which one. I think lower. otherwise its a pretty standard setup.

looks fairly straight forward install.
not interested in the rpm sensor, dont plan on pushing allofit. ill probably settle around 16 psi with a little under or around 300hp.
i hope my 5 speed can survive this power, i dont do crazy lunches or drag strips, but i do the occasional autox and track day.
I have a 6 spd i can put in, but i really want to keep the 5spd, i remember hating the 6spd gearing on my ex MSM. still have nightmares about constant autox 2-3-2-3-2-3 shifting on my ex MSM
will probably lower boost to 12psi for track days. similar to what im doing now on my 2560

ive placed my order 2 days ago, called them before i placed it, and they said its out of stock, but they are getting a shipment in a couple of days. (so it cant be old stock)
called today to see whats the status, and they tell me its out of stock with an ETA of END OF MAY. what happened to in a couple of days? i donno.
And to top it off, he tells me they cant do this price ($1254). he says once they get it back in stock he would charge me $1390. still not a bad price, but that is bullshit.
I am canceling this order.
Called up these guys:
https://www.tcsautomotive.com/index....scription=true
Asked if they have this in stock, said no, but should have more by end of the month.
asked to price match THMotorsports, he said sure, no problem.
so placed an order with TCS, and now its just a waiting game for the turbos to be back in stock.
also called up full-race, they are also out of stock.
If i can get it at this price ($1254) thats an amazing deal on this turbo. thats less than FM wants for a new gt2560r.

I was surprised when you said you ordered it. But turns out that janky site/company is exactly as it always was and nothing is new.
pro-tip: when you find some janky site with a generic ms-paint quality "stock photo" of a turbo offering it for way cheaper than everyone else, 9/10 times, it aint legit.

waiting on the turbo, apparently borg Werner is quoting end of may for all suppliers. It's sold out everywhere with an eta of end of may.
i put oem header back on and a filter on the intercooler pipes so i can use the car in the mean time, so for now I have an intercooled NA miata.
feels so slow going back to 100hp...

but yeah, low compression pistons (94 pistons 8.8:1) and intercooled intake, im sure its on par with a 1.6 miata power wise.
In other news, the big *** magnaflow muffler doesnt sound so bad, its loud and raspy when i get on it, but when cruising on the hwy its quiet with zero drone.

sooo, an update to this:
every one i called is sold out of this turbo, i still have one on order with TCS which supposedly should be back in stock early June.
(seem to be good guys at TCS, called multiple times for updates, they always answer, but not their fault BW doesnt make enough EFR turbos for everyone.)
So i called BorgWerner corporate offices, asking what is going on with their inventory, and i cant buy this damn turbo anywhere.
The rep gives me a couple of their top distributors phone numbers.
So i call up:
Industrial injection (based in Salt lake city).
Q?: Do you have EFR6258 part number 179150 turbo in stock on hand?
A: Sure, we got a couple.
Q?: Can you price match ThMotorsports? ($1254)
A: Sure.
ME: TAKE MY MONEY NOW.
done deal. turbo shipping today.
Kraken stuff already arrived, turbo will be here next week. back to happily boosting soon!
I should have called up BW corporate 6 weeks ago instead of calling up all these "performance car part websites" who none have in stock.

Power wise, i am aiming for 300hp. but might tone it down a bit, as i want to keep my 5 speed in one piece.
not doing allofit, dont have enough injector flow and on stock 94 pistons.

i just told Gavin on the phone if he can price match thmotorsports.com. he went on their website, looked at the item and said, sure we can do that.
