Default Downpipe for T25 and HKS manifold on a 1.8 NB.

Finally I have collected all the bits for my turbo kit....except for the downpipe.

I have a HKS cast manifold (like the greddy one) and a sr20det T25.

I tought I should be able to weld a downpipe myself, but the problem is that I haven't really the skill to do a good job and not much time to dedicate to learn to weld... but I want my turbo miata asap, cause my project started in october and now I really want to see this car done.

What do you think I can do?
There is someone that has already built one for this setup and sells a downpipe or can build one for me?
Begi doesn't......and selling the hks manifold to someone is very hard here because no one has a turbo miata in italy (mine will be the first) and shipping abroad from italy cost an eye and a leg.

Buying the manifold+downpipe combo from begi seems the only thing to do...
Any other options?

Thanks...

Its a hks downpipe (only bigger)but only for the 1.6, but will be close to what you want (and in europe)

Thanks, doesn't look so bad...
The exhaust flange is different (sr20det T25 has a 5 bolt style flange) but I should be able to modify just that... I don't know if the placement is ok, anyway...

I know it uses the 300zx tt housing (4 bold) but i think there will be no big issues there...
I hounestly don't know is it hooks up to the 1.8 downpipe...

You know what I can do for you. I'm also running the HKS manifold with a T25(share pics of your setup) and I'm going to be taking my car to a shop here to build me a custom exhaust.. I can have one made for you too.. the only problem I see is that my car is an NA not a NB.

Pm for you Pakman!
Na or Nb, as long as we have the same manifold/turbo, should not be a problem...

Tomorrow (my time is gmt +1 ) I'll take all the picture...

Would it be easy to adapt the begi greddy downpipe for it..

Maybe if you ask begi there is a possibility to have some mods on that downpipe.
I use the same combo (91 car,94block,99head)
The placement is very simular as the greddy... Ask them not to weld a flang on it and sent you a t25/28 flange.
Also ,as the placing of the turbo is a bit more to the front of the car, ask them to lenghten up the pipes on the flange side...

Or someone needs to send Begi a HKS mani so they can build one. If you're serious about having a quality DP made, then go that route.

call corky, if they have time they'll build you a DP if you send them your manifold and turbo.

Depending on your fabrication skills you could make the downpipe, but only tack it, then take it to a pro to finish the welding. That would be cheep and it would still be your downpipe.

I think the market is to smal to create 4 new downpipes (1.6 & 1.8)(na/nb)

Greddymx5, CJernigan I asked Begi about a downpipe for the hks manifold. Stephanie said that they don't build one for that manifold that suit my needs.

Ok, then I asked them if they could build one for me, I proposed to ship my hks manifold. No reply.
Then asked again if they can sell to me one of their downpipe so that I can modify it. No reply.
Then asked again if they can sell to me a manifold and downpipe combo and ship it to italy. No reply.

Now, tell me...what do I have to think about that??
Are they so busy that they even have time to say: "Sorry, we don't want to ship it to Italy" (why??) or "We won't do that for you" ??

I think it's the wrong way to make a new customer. Very disappointed.

Weird about them not communicating. Stephanie who takes care of most of the office things has posted on the forums today even so I don't see why they would not reply.

I have the same issue. Greddy kit that I want to put on a '97. oh, and I'm a cheap bastard. The HKS manifold fits that build but doesn't solve the DP question. I'd love to hear what everyone finds out

Dude you are in Itally the customs and shipping hassles are enormous when dealing with overseas i would think it wouldnt be worth there trouble ot get you stuff. And in the long run it would be easier for you to get something done local.

Ok, I am in Italy. Anyway it's not an excuse for begi to not reply my e-mail.

Even if the customs and shipping are expensive, the result is that the downpipe + shipping + customs etc cost a LOT less then having it fabbed here.
In Italy (thanks to the euro and the hight cost of the labour) exhaust shops that can do a downpipe are so expensive that It will cost around 500 euro (more that 700$) not considering that I must live the car in the shop, and let them do the job.

Consider that mine will be the first turbo miata in Italy, and turbo-ing a Na car is almost unknown here.

I stil think the begi greddy dp will be your best bet... Same turbo location, combined with a 1.6 (high flow) cat.
Take it to a welder and let him add the extra space...
