Cracked oil pan is it repairable?
Well I screwed up and over tightened the fitting in my oil pan. Simple question is it too bad to just throw jb weld on it or should I be prepared to get another? I may have a welder that could fix it figured I'd see if anyones gotten away with worse so I could drive it to the welder or if I should just grab another pan.

Yep, JB weld. Prep the area with grinder, something coarse to get the JB to stick. Clean with high pressure carb cleaner then acetone in a spray bottle. Apply the JB and work it in really good before building to 1/16" thick. Put a light bulb near to keep it warm for 24 hours. You've done your best, see how it goes

I had a pan on a MSM repaired by welding. It was cracked because the PO jacked the car up using it!
I removed subframe and pan which was a mistake; should have removed engine...
The welder (an absolute wizard with TIG) had serious trouble welding the pan as the pan was made out of hyper-eutectic aluminum.
This is aluminum that is alloyed with silica (glass). It is very hard to weld as it "foams" and "pops"during the welding.
Even after all the BS above it seeped a tiny bit.
I fixed that with JB weld.
Would have been better from the start to just replace pan or
USE JB WELD without pulling it from car...
Biggest issue with JB weld is to get the aluminum medically clean.
I drained oil then flushed crankcase with solvent then alcohol.
Acetone might be a better choice...
