Not 100% on how it connects to the harness at the back of the head.

Not sure what you mean by "back of the head". You mean splicing into the stock coil harness ?

You still having problems ? Post specific questions so someone can help you.... I first wired all the coils then connected all the wires that are common. That was all the blacks together, the reds together and then the bues. That left the two triggers (above) I brought the above wires toward the back of the head and added a ground wire to the negative wires with a lug to connect to the ground on the head. The rest of the wires run to the connector where the igniter normally connects. Hope that helps |
I found a vendor who may be able to identify the non-Toyota supplier for the COP connectors, which should make them much more readily, and more importantly, much more affordably available. It would be like having the Tyco part numbers for the ECU plugs to make your Boomslang versus having to buy them from Mazda. Here's what he wrote me:
They likely will have a logo indicating the manufacturer on the connector body somewhere. There is also likely a 5 digit number on the connector body. Determining the width of the terminal blades is useful as well. If you tell us the exact application and years this may also help. Lastly, we need to see the internal features in good lighting and in focus to make sure we get the right keyway patterns. I was looking at the pics in this thread and don't see any keyways on the COPs. |
As I want to re-do my COP wiring I have searched for the correct connector pins and found different part numbers and vendors/manufacturers:
Sumitomo 8100-0462 http://swsct.sws.co.jp/components/ph...s/81000462.jpg SWS Components for Automobiles Yazaki 7116-4025 https://apps.us.yazaki.com/gccx/Conn...als/090_sf.jpg https://apps.us.yazaki.com/gccx/comp...emale&nolink=Y And of course the pigtails from Toyota: 160mm long 82998-12440 500mm long 82998-12590 Unfortunately I can't source any of the connectors over here in Germany... :vash: Greets |
These parts were listed as additonal in the main COP thread.

Okay, Ballenger Motorsports is all over this, with the actual correct parts:
It looks like we crossed this part over from a Toyota PN to a manufacturing number previously. We already have terminals and seals in stock for this part: Terminals for CONN-100307 [ 4 - Way Japanese coil on plug connector (Toyota # 90980-11885 , GM # 88974044 ) ] Seals for CONN-100307 [ 4 - Way Japanese coil on plug connector (Toyota # 90980-11885 , GM # 88974044 ) ] We do ship these terminals and seals internationally, including to Germany. I will bring in some of these connectors on our next shipment from Japan. Production / fulfillment on these will take about 8 weeks. I went ahead and added the item to our web store for pre-ordering if desired here: Ballenger Motorsports - High Performance Electronics Tyco / Amp p/n 173631 is not appropriate to use in that housing. Y'all are welcome :brain: |
I can't create an account at Ballenger Motorsport - it always asks to choose the country again... :vash:

I have also Toyota Coils, but currently no Plugs for it. I will pay you per Bankaccount, and we can make 50/50 with TAX and shipping as well. Ask also Jonny, i think he will also be intressted. |
I had forgotten about the seals
So, what will be the cost of 4 complete connectors from this latest source ? |

For those interested in buying the Toyota COP's, I found a good source on eBay, who sells them with/without the pigtail connector already on them. Link to his items listing is eBay Seller: jarcocorpii: Car Truck Parts items on eBay Motors , should take you directly to all coils he has right now. I picked up 4 of the "TOYOTA COROLLA MATRIX CELICA MR2 IGNITION COIL 1ZZFE" (90080-19015) coils + plugs on them for $78 including 3-day shipping -- a good deal if you ask me, eliminating the need for a lot of the searching for connectors, pins, etc. Hope it helps someone here.

bompus, thanks so much for that eBay link! I bought 4, they were on sale. $67.95 to my front door. Unlike most of my eBay experiences lately, this one was great. They arrived in 3 days. Exactly as described, if not better. They look absolutely brand new. The pigtails have about 2" of wire. This saved me a lot of time scrounging, so maybe the price was a little high, but having the pigtails included and not having to deal with the tards at my local junkyard made it worth while. I started to install them today.

That's a great deal especially with the pig tails.

with those $4.78, 160mm repair slices, you still have to buy the plastic connector and buy 16 of those right? That's $75+shipping+the connectors, that ebay store link given above would be a much better deal.

This same guy currently has just the pigtails for $7 each also. That seems a little high, but they are factory and only one click away.

This thread is Awesome. I made my own COP setup this weekend and it's flipping amazing. I never thought my ignition system was that inefficient. There’s so much power through the entire RPM range and much more seamless transition from vacuum to boost. This is one of my favorite mods. Thanks Lazzer408 and Brainiack for so much useful information.

^ +1 Thanks for all the info. It's only a matter of time before someone posts before and after dyno results.
