Default Assitance With Actual Researched Parts Lists

I am completly new to Forced Induction Builds. This is my first Miata. I have done all the suspension/safety/maintenace stuff already.

99 NB. 5 Speed, Torsen, 4.3 rear (I think) I Know the diff is high for a turbo setup, but I will live with it until I find a good deal on a 3.6 or 3.9.
Not my daily. Used on nice days around town, canyon carving weekend etc. Also used for 5-10 HPDE per year. Live in Denver, CO.

I REALLY enjoy working on the car, so I will be installing all items myself and am confident working on engines. A bit worried about a full custom kit since I am a bit new to working on turbos? No welder so no actual fab work can be done at home.

Currently have $6,500 saved to go turbo and would love to do it for that, but can realistically drop 7-8k if needed. I have read for a year on here and have ideas of what I want.

I really think I would be fine with 220-250 WHP (close to stock block issues). I would love to be able to build a 350WHP monster, but that is probably out of my budget for now. Really considering something I could pull, build block, and upgrade at a later date. That is pushing me towards TSE or FM custom kit I feel like. The other option is a budget MK turbo setup, my only worry is reliability on track.

Please see attached Xcel sheet for current build and my three turbo build options. The other option is TSE kit and then build block later?

I guess I am just looking for some confirmation that I am thinking properly here and have everything included I would need for each respective build, trying to pull the trigger on some of this asap. If i DO NOT go MK then I will be ordering a megasquirt immediately.

Plan: Megasquirt > Tune > Injectors > Tune > Turbo Kit/Clutch > Tune ..... Possibly Build Block and Upgrade to MOAR POWAR.

Spreasheet of Build Ideas. Green Font means I have already done it. Below that I have my thoughts on what is required for each kit and some notes. Prices based on quick vendor searches. Not necessarily buying from listed vendor (due to reasons we’ll known around here)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

Any Thoughts?

Edit: I realize this list is missing a few items for certain builds, and realize my budget does not really fit into either the FM or the MOAR POWARRR build, so some suggestions would be awesome. I feel like for $7k I should be able to get a pretty nice starter build going with room for future power goals? Am I crazy for thinking this?

I really like your spreadsheet. I'm going to steal it if you dont mind. I'm in the same boat as you. I read that the TSE stuff is the best manifold and down pipe you can get, but alot of money. I'm probably going to go with the MK turbo kit because it's the best price and I have read it's a pretty reliable setup. Good luck and please do a build thread with whatever you decide. I would like to see how it all goes.

No Worries. I am going to be cleaning it up/updating it and will upload a new copy once that is complete (that was a very rough copy I built up quickly last night). It is really amazing once you start adding everything up how quickly things seem to get out of hand! Never realized how much I already had into this thing,

also consider the Kraken EFR manifold/dp setup. that is what im running with a 6258 turbo. SUPER happy with the setup and $1000 less than TSE kit with similar performance/quality.

Borka,

I do like that setup and it looks quite sexy. Are you running the standard manifold or the low mount? Any thoughts on the difference in those? Also, did you just build your own turbo lines for your setup? I am not opposed to that but I do like the fact that the TSE kit has turbo lines included (perhaps I am making too big of a deal out of building my own lines/piecing a kit together?).

Where did you purchase your Kraken stuff from? Direct from his site?

I have the standard setup and love it!.
I purchased by messaging him on facebook.
back then he included the oil/water lines. Ask him if he can still supply the lines.

If not, it's just a T fitting for the oil sender, and a standard 4an line in the proper length, for water it's just banjo fittings and some rubber hose. Nothing special that can't be bought from anywhere.

No experience with low mount setup, but I love the standard. Super easy to install and excellent reach to all the needed bolts.

I see on your list you have Inconel studs and locking hardware. I just picked the studs up from KA Injection and the locking hardware from Fab9. Came out to about $75. Also, I highly recommend the Kraken kit! I love mine and that man is always improving his product and willing to help. Also loving my Supermiata clutch paired with my Fidanza Flywheel.
