Welcome to the Link family and modeled fueling. I tried megasquirt and didn't even make it all the way through setup before I gave up on it.
I haven't heard anyone go from Link/Haltech to megasquirt, so I think that says a lot. I think the fact megasquirt still offers a DIY kit is cool, and it's more open source than something like link, but there hasn't development in the megasquirt space for too long now and people like me are jumping ship because link is just a better solution (even more so in the southern hemisphere). Some people maybe just craving more car problems to have more alone time? 🤣
Overflow tank thing
I found the pic of the ebay overflow tank I wanna try replicate. Also a fan of the catch can
Not sure about that overflow tank location, airflow out of the radiator would be my priority. Now, if you can turn it 180*, and mount it further away from the radiator, that is a cool (sorry ) place for it and no airflow obstruction (well almost none)

It's impossible to tell from the pic I sent but the tank is quite small, only 1L capacity so the majority of the radiator wont be blocked. I think the cooling setup is pretty solid for a street car, I never had trouble with overheating even in hot Australian summers. Might be a different story with a track car though! I think worst case I can find another spot for it. Here's the full pic for context
Coolant reroute is composed of 2 random bends I found at my local auto store and some 1.5 inch stainless tube I had laying around. It's functional but doesn't look the best. Ideally I'd wanna get a tighter bend from the coolant neck like the one in the pic, at the moment it contacts my intercooler piping

Thanks. Yeah, just flogging a hobby horse there, street car should be fine. However, is that tank vented? It needs to be able to handle varying levels of coolant as the engine overflows to it, and then draws from it when cooling down, and to overflow itself if necessary. I don't know the capacity of the stock tank, but I doubt it is much more than 1l - somebody surprise me?!!
I think your reroute is pretty neat, I like the idea of a hard pipe between the bends, something like that is on my to-do list.
I did the things today, removed the AC fan and got the new $20 overflow tank setup.
Installing overflow tank
Install was pretty straight forward, it's mounted with zipties at the moment until I get some radiator fan straps. I routed the hose from the radiator cap to the underside of the overflow tank, this will allow any air bubbles to free themselves without introducing any new ones. Just make sure you measure where to cut the clear plastic tubing. They didn't pre-cut mine and I chopped about 1mm too much off so install was a bit difficult. I had to heat up the tube and stretch it slightly to make it fit.
Installing catch can
I changed my catch can setup, capped off the port on the intake manifold and ran hoses to the valve cover. I need to get a couple things to clean it up, a 90 deg PCV valve and a rubber nipple for the intake manifold. Unfortunately I can no longer say my catch catch is turbocharged
That wraps up the cold side wire tuck and it looks sooo much better in my opinion. Really happy with the results! I don't know if I will do the same to the hot side, but I will for sure clean it up too. Need to get right of the flashing tape etc. Can't wait to drive this thing

Yeahh It's tricky to have a clean route. I see people use the 323 GTX / Ford valve cover which doesnt have a vent on the hot-side.
I should probably throw a bit of heat shielding over the headers / hose too
Here's the part number for the water elbow AF949-06 and just drilled and tapped it with some teflon tape into a custom water neck

Looks like a generic plumbing fitting. You can get nice anodised 90* fittings from AN suppliers (Speedflow locally), just need to know what threads/fittings you need on the ends, alternatively Bunnings Racer Supplies ...
