Default is 18 or 20psi safe??

i just dropped my car off at rpm to have them tune my link and install 550s and i told them to set it up for 18psi... is that safe?? they are the best tuning shop on the east coast so they should be able to make it perfect...
i am running 305s at 15psi right now and its not fast enough.. i hope that 18psi with a good tune and my big 16g back on will make more power...
thx

i wouldn't push more than that...

however, I'm questioning how safe it was to run 305s past 170rwhp at 50psi of fuel...was an FMU invovled?

yeah.. its not safe... lots of detonation.. just rebuilt the motor... didnt take it to 15psi that much, maybe two or three times... i hope that 18psi is enough... i think that it should be fine with the forged rods, wiesco pistons, cometic head gasket and apr main studs i just put in...
thx

The built bottom end should make it safe. What kind of boost was Andy running with out any engine managment?

All the Mitsu 'G' wheels really shine beyond 20psi.

with a built bottom end it should be good for 25psi + and past that the motor will start having flow issues and more work has to go in

18psi was Afloyd's high power run. Keep in mind if you're having it tuned to from a "coarse" tune, you should get more power for your boost level anyway.

I run the GReddy at 18psi all day long with no detonation. I have 440cc injectors tuned with the Link.

Granted, I do have a built motor but I have had no issues with my setup so far.

That turbo is good enough for 18psi to redline?

Yep. I've never had a problem with it. I can bounce it off the rev limiter and the boost gauge holds 18psi for as long as I want it to (but of course I don't)

I wish I knew. I haven't had a chance to dyno yet. It'll be this season, I'd like to know myself.

Probably something in the 275rwhp range...about the most you can ask from it.

That's what I was thinking. I really wouldn't want more than that in all honesty. The car is pretty undriveable in hard rain, despite my compromising choices for street tires.

It's also a pig on gas and tires. ~12mpg on 93 octane and I had the belts coming through a set of RT615s in ~1300 miles.

I still love it though.

I assume his driving habits are to blame I was still making 27mpg at 200rwhp, i expect the same at 250.
