12 degrees base, too much?

In the basic Greddy kit there was no dynamic timing retard device at all (no MSD box) to the 6° base timing represented all of the "retard" you were ever going to get.
It's been too many years since I've touched the MSD box, so I can't remember what the maximum retard it will apply is, but I'd wager that you're probably just fine running 10-12° base timing, as that's what it was designed for.
