Default #1 not sparking

Hi All, I hope someone can help revive my baby (original owner to a 94 MX-3)
I noticed my BPT swap has had a few issues: rough acceleration at high speed, remote start not working, I have to open throttle very slightly to get it to start. Today I checked each cylinder for RPM and #1 had no rpm signal. I pull spark plug wire slight light off the d585 ls coil and I get rpm to register.
Things I tried but still #1 is not sparking properly: swapped in a spare d585, swapped #4 to #1 wire and coil. I know #4 wire and coil work as rpm drops when I disconnect. I also swapped the 4 pin wire from 4 to 1 - no help.
Freaking weird.
Cold compression test 152, 160, 149, 149.
I run mega squirt in batch fire 1/4 2/3.
I welcome any thoughts.
Thank you

One more bit of confusion, with wasted spark i should have 1&4 paired together from MS and then 2&3 paired together? I've had the car running this way a few thousand miles. I am reading conflicting or seemingly conflicting information out there.

You may be getting some confusion from batch injection and wasted (batch) spark. Wasted spark is 1&4 and 2&3.

About the only advice I can offer is to start probing your #1 connector. It needs ground, power, and signal - and connector 4's pins should have continuity to connector 1.

Yes I realize my confusion, thanks for reminder about injection. So I swapped in old spark plug and tested the one i removed. The bad #1 was showing continuity
to the threads and not just to the tip. RPM is now reading on #1. Remote start not working yet as it cranks and then cuts off too fast. Starting with key works but only when I give it throttle.
