Default 1.6L 2560r record attempt

This is what Ive got for it.

Sorry this is a post I just copy and pasted across from another forum.

Fabbing the collectors, these have a pretty low angle for maximum flow through the midrange and top end.

Deciding where the turbo will sit, yep this spot looks like it will get us booked quick smart, it must be a good spot for power.

This shot shows the collector and front 2 cylinders, also note the flipped and welded water outlet to facilitate the electric water pump.

Heaps of room for a 4" dump pipe.

Complete manifold off the car, this setup will fit a 500+ RWHP Borg Warner EFR, down the track, hopefully within 6 months or so.

Watch this space for bulletproofing.
Finishing the welds then porting it, then off to get some good turbo studs.
Not steel, not stainless steel, but Inconel studs. Not 8mm either. 10mm Inconel studs with Stage 8 locking hardware, Resbonded to the manifold.

And then a layer of ceramic coating on the inside and 2 on the outside.

Should be enough to do the trick.

Oh and then Aero.. lots and lots of huge very serious aero.

Finish ETA, next weekend hopefully.

Thanks 18psi for the support, you obviously havnt noticed the thread tags yet lol. EDIT: I swear i wrote some, where did they go.

To answer Brain, if I hit the 325whp mark Ive got the Miata 2560 record, and Im fair certain that 310 is the 1,6L record.

The car previously made 297whp with a log manifold, a 2" downpipe and a 2.5" exhaust with a cat.

what's sad is: the best 325whp for a 1.6L is still the worst record for a 1.8L...

FWIW, im pretty certain that 310rwhp (dynojet) on a 2560 is the record here in the states for a well sorted 1.8L.

By all means try to do it. But I just love to hate on the 1.**** liter.

I think it's a Craig Davies EWP80.

Ninja'd me brain. I thought it was 318HP for the 1.8L that did it. We are talking about the same car. If 310 is right then Im only 14 HP from the Miata record.

What do you get if you "beat" this record?

A cookie?

Hopefully an ANZAC cookie...

I get Winning.

7 Grams worth I've been told.

The guy I built it for gets bragging rights of some variety.

We hope to have the quickest rego'd mx5 in Oz by the end of this year, which as i said will obviously not be powered by a T25.

I want to see this thing on a proper dyno and then back it up with a pass at the track. Trap speed will tell the real story on how powerful it is.

Should be fun.

I'm fairly confident you'll pull this off. You're already on the right track. Subbing anyway

310 at 17psi, 304 at 14. Same dyno. At the flow limit for that turbo on that car.

And he wasn't trying for any hp record. Peak HP number are for *******. I think that's what they call 'em.

And he had a lot more area under the curve than you will see with a long tube 1.6.

Please prove me wrong
Those 1.25" schedule pipes may help.

This is on E85, I highly doubt that he had a LOT more area under the curve. I have a random sheet from its last session during tuning and it makes some area.

hope this works I'm on a phone.

But you see its making around 200whp around 4000rpm ish. again this was on an AVO setup with 2ish inch downpipe to a 2.5" system with a cat.

Yes you are right though. That is why it has long small runners, we will street tune the Ms2's EBC and the more response and midrange we can get the more linear and easy it will be to drive if we can get EBC to play ball. So is the theory anyways.
