I wanted to post an update to this for those interested. I spent this weekend installing the forceflow injectors, megasquirt, EBC, wideband to megasquirt. Finally was able to boost more than wastegate. The PO must've put in an upgraded clutch as I had no slipping issues. I'm running ~ 175kpa and am at 800 feet of elevation. Around 11psi. I fought some boost leak issues and got most of the major ones under control. I am amazed how easily it is to get things up and running with the megasquirt. The AFRs were dialed in in no time with auto-tune. I have a little bit of cleanup left but drive-ability is already improved when not in boost. Running 93 octane. Appreciate everyone's help so far.
Any suggestions/criticism for my timing, fuel boost or otherwise? Attached graph is in 3rd gear. AFAIK the engine is a stock 1.6 with a slight overbore (cleanup and next size pistons).
I'm back for another update. By the time snow was flying and it was time to put the car away for storage I developed blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. I took the turbo out and identified it as a SR20DET turbo with journal bearings. There was a lot of radial shaft play and oil. I am working on sourcing a GT2554R to replace it. I also discovered that my intake manifold was cracked. So i'm fixing these little annoyances.
When I removed the turbo, I found a plate between the exhaust flange on the turbo and the cast elbow that goes to the exhaust/down pipe. There was a hole in this plate and a torque arm coming off an engine mount to secure the turbo in place. I don't like the fact that there are now two sealing interfaces with potential for leak (one on each side of the plate), but I do like the extra support from the bar. How would you guys proceed. Should I leave it as is or throw the plate in the garbage?
