Seems to me the stand your ground law has some serious flaws. I’ll just post some thoughts.
One guy went to the store to score some skittles and a Tea and have a phone conversation with his girlfriend evidence is there to support this. The other guy is patrolling the neighborhood with a gun looking for trouble anticipating the adrenaline rush of confrontation and the chance to enforce authority evidence to support this. Which one is likely to start some ----?
Another what if: What if Trevor was packing his own weapon and shot the big thug looking un-uniformed guy trying to confront him and chasing him down for his own self-defense. Most definitely he felt threatened and obviously he in fact was for his life. Do you think he would walk with no charges or further investigation on the basis of the stand your ground law as it worked for Zimmerman if this were the case?
Murder appears fully legal in Florida. Just have to make it look like you felt threat and it is your story against a dead mans story. Scary thought.

Good point. Martin could have shot Zimmerman in self defense if Zimmerman had pulled a gun under this law.
If everyone in Florida had a gun and went to the same place, and one person pulled his/her gun and everyone pulled a gun on that person then everybody could legally shoot everyone else until there was nobody holding a gun left. Thats how to get rid of all those Floridians. Genus.

But, there is an ugliness too. I was raised not an hours drive from the "headquarters" of the Imperial Clans of America, which is pretty much just a few dozen rednecks with guns these days.
I never heard about this- http://articles.nydailynews.com/2012...ire-tv-station

Step 2: Turn off radio. 'Cause all the radio dudes are talkin' 'bout it too.
It's the internet or ipod for me these days. But nothing stops people from asking about it. Like I know. I wasn't there. I just live here...
LOL! Thx, quite apropos...
Truth is, most here are not from here. They're all a buncha crazed northerners who were apparently heat-stroked and decided to move here.
In the 70's we had bumper stickers that read: 'You've seen our beaches, you've spent your money, Now GO HOME!'
Nobody listens...

The people who are rising up to defend Martin want a lynching, not justice.
That's hate speech, Bob.

Agreed that you won't be able to know all the facts of the case by reading media reports, inclusive of all the perceived bias. We may never know the actual events as even eyewitness testimony is notoriously dodgy.
The truth, as is most often, probably lies somewhere in between Zimmerman and Martin both being saints. I would not be surprised if Zimmerman was overzealous and "hoping for trouble" (and then surprised when it started kicking his ***) and I would not be surprised if Martin embraced the "thug life" (and then was surprised when the pudgy light-skinned guy whose *** he was kicking shot him).
Multiple lives have been destroyed between the events and the shitshow that followed, including people completely unrelated to the events - like the couple that received death threats after Spike Lee and others tweeted their address, mistaking it for Zimmerman's.
I don't know how much of it is "the left" and how much of it is the Black Grievance, Inc. groups.

No, he's white hispanic.
Too bad Holder is a member, else they'd be arrested for this sort of stunt otherwise.
When the liberal media has a panel discussion on Joe Oliver because he spoke in defense of Zimmerman and suggested maybe the media has jumped to a conclusion, it's not the grievence squad.
When ABC revels survelance tape that prooves nothing but continually says it shows he wasn't injured and therefore the police report is falsified, it's not the grievence squad.
When CNN plays a muffled audio tape, after an expert "audio guy" cleaned it up, and you cannot hear anything at all, but before playing the tape, Gary Tuchman first announced what the slur was supposed to be "f-----g coon," (suggesting the answer in advance), and then wraps up by saying "You know, it sounds like this allegation could be accurate, but I wouldn't swear to it in court. That's what it sounds like to me," it's not the grievence squad.

Not a hate group, lol. No, seriously, most "hate crime" legislation is written as "injury to minorities, women, and gays" so no one can legally hate the white male. BTW, this is "thought crime". Don't let your thoughts indict you as a criminal. Be sure to turn yourself into authorities if you ever think in general.

I've listened to the 911 calls, read the witness statements, read every article that's been posted on several sites I frequent, and tried to wade through this entire mess. I have a Florida CCW and claim residency there... probably intend to retire there, so I try to keep up on politics and whatnot.
If the disposition from whatever law enforcement agency ends up having final say results in Zimmerman not being charged with a crime, it's going to be bad... like Rodney King bad, and it will be entirely due to media handling of this incident.
Based on everything that I've learned and considering Florida law, I don't see that Zimmerman ever committed a crime. It will probably show that Martin started the fight and was the aggressor, and that Zimmerman did his best to get away from Martin prior to resorting to deadly force. Zimmerman will not be charged, and Martin will end up being martyr for what ensues. That's what I think will happen.
Oh yeah... and I'm leaving for El Salvador in a couple hours... will be gone the whole month of April, so good luck.
