You know, if they gave the cars registrations and let them be titled...it is a bit out of their bounds to go "ooops, sorry, we are now taking your car because some agency 5 years ago dropped the ball"

That's the main thing that gets me. It's one thing for the government to suddenly decide they are not legal for street use. It's a whole different thing for the government to suddenly decide that they can come to your house and seize anything that isn't street legal. They're gonna be stealing little kid's go-carts next.

Law enforcement agencies love this ****. They pick a random, obscure law, then enforce it. These guys literally have nothing better to do with their time considering an obscene amount were hired under the Republican White House, and now Hussein decided not to enforce anything with ICE because it might cost him votes from brown people, so these guys have nothing better to do with their time than harass you and I.
You, I, and every car enthusiest in this country should be afraid of a nationwide push from environmental authoritarians who push for bill that emissions test old cars (like our Miatas) against modern standards of electric toasters on wheels. I suspect that one day the EPA/NHTSA will come looking for our cars too.

Actually, just about every year California puts a state bill to a vote to change emissions testing on old vehicles and or scratching registration on old cars with a mileage stipulation.
