Why is everyone so up in arms over this? They try to make it seem like it's an issue of "censorship", when it's really a matter of protecting US jobs and intellectual property. Damn rip-offs and pirates need to be stopped, so that music, games and movies cost the rest of us less, and copy protection stuff is less intrusive.

You honestly trust your gov't that well? That they have some great moral authority to block websites that they think are bad to you? Will it stop there?
What about the day they want to pass the "net neutrality" bill, take over complete control of the internet and then block all web sites they deem unfit?
In China they censor words like freedom and democracy off the internet and most other content.
Just the other day in France they outlawed the use of the words "Facebook" and "Twitter" in any news/radio broadcasts.
They did this because the gov't thought it was unfair that more popular social networks got free advertising and the gov't has to protect the little guy. I predict a myspace.com revival!
No big deal.
Oh wait no, my bad I found it in the Consitution:

Congress shall make ... law ... prohibiting the free exercise ... of speech, or ... the right of the people.

How about my desire to live in a country where anyone and everyone can google search anything they want? I want to live in a country where I can search for all the poz-party storeis I want, and I'm not joking. I wonder what your government will say when they discover that maitaturbo.net is teaching people ways to modify cars which is inconsistent with Hussein bin-Obamakahn's energy policy? You already have a white house that is adamant on the need for the "constitution to change and evolve", is that evolotionary plan from Mr. Kagan consistent with your vision? Hopefully that vision is consistent with the ruling class.
suddenly the conservatives don't sound so crazy about censorship anymore, do they?

I honestly am shocked that anyone would defend this blatant attack on our civil liberties. These are the same people that would support the patriot act I guess.
DONT WORRY, ITS FOR YOUR PROTECTION.

Update:
Senaturds are unconcerned about massive unintended consequences of a law that is really meant to break the Internet in order to protect Big Business (Hollywood), that relies on old business models:

Jail time for posting a video of yourself lip synching to popular songs:

The way concentrated power works, is that it writes more and more laws that protect the entrenched monied interests and take away more and more freedoms from the populace.
Until the bureaucracy collapses under its own weight. The US Fed Gov is gonna go insolvent. It spends 9% more than it earns, with no sign of letting up. It continually borrows more to cover its deficit. It owes more than 3 years of its income. ~5% of its budget goes to paying interest alone on the debt.
When the government's credit score drops, the % of its budget that it pays towards interest payments can triple or quadruple. That means an additional 20% total. Then it will have no choice but to cut its budget.
When its budget is cut, its power will diminish.
