events up until 4:45 PM EST:
-Suspects are brothers, 26 (Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Black hat) and 19 (Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, White hat, Twitter: https://twitter.com/j_tsar), from Chechnya, Russia. Out of contact with most of family for many years (aunt, uncle, two sisters, all living in USA). Parents still living in Russia with closer contact to the two (but did not suspect anything). Older was antisocial, didn't get along with others. Younger seemed to get along with people.
-Police officer (Sean Collier) was shot dead while in his car on the MIT campus. Police set up a perimeter of the building, but by the time they arrived, the two had already escaped. Police were unaware and held the perimeter.
-Carjacking of a Mercedes at gunpoint. Woman was kept hostage in the car. Stopped at 7-11 for gas, where the woman escaped. (Surveillance from 7-11 later shows a photo of White hat: pic.twitter.com/yimpQUT0zB)
-Woman reported the carjacking to police, leading to an eventual police chase to Watertown.
-Confrontation between the police and the suspects occur in the Watertown neighbourhood. Pressure-cooker explosives and hand-grenades were used against the police, among excessive gunfire. Neighbourhood notified via reverse-911.(Video:
)
-Chase continues on foot for hours. Two suspects incorrectly apprehended and released. Black hat (26) is eventually shot and brought to hospital - pronounced dead. Later discovered that he wore a bomb vest that was detonated. At this point, they could not confirm the identity of the man.
-White hat leads the police on a wild chase through the neighbourhood, evading all police. Eventually trips up motion detectors at a nearby building. When the police went to investigate, he was gone, but they found explosives set in the building.
-The Boston Globe released that the first suspect was one of the Boston Marathon bombers. The police later confirmed this in a press release after they lost White hat.
-At this point, K9 units, bomb disposal, SWAT are called in for aid. Still no trace of White hat.
-Search continues for hours with small leads, but to no avail. Many searches of open basement/back doors, etc. Police decide to wait for daylight, when reinforcements are called in.
-Upon the arrival of the morning, people were advised to stay inside. Many people still went to work. Eventually, people were sent home and all public transportation was later called off. (Some has been restored since then)
-All events that have occured since this morning have been, in general, searches of buildings with open doors, or reported sightings of White hat (often in vehicles). Vehicles have all been found abandoned, or of no significance. Homes are combed one by one.
-Media have interviewed the aunt and father (who think the brothers were framed), uncle ("they did it because they are losers"), and friends of White hat ("he was a cool guy")
-Meanwhile, police plan on carrying out a controlled detonation of the place where they lived to ensure the safety of officers that will go in to search for evidence.

So...
We all just witnessed the patriot act in action. Military police entering homes without warrants or permission. I can only guess and say they searched and took what they wanted...

Ive no idea but honestly, and Im not having a go any any one of you guys, I get in the RPG thread etc and read read read, but it sure looks like the govt is gearing up for civil war and is trying to make sheep out of as many of its citizens as possible before that happens. I see a lot of the police armored vehicles on TV also, the big black 'rescue' ones with the gun ports on them.

I don't know what is going on... Glenn Beck better follow through.
I cannot believe an American city was shut down and people not allowed out of their homes. This isn't Russia, how are people ok with these things? Patriot Act was just enforced right in front of our eyes. It will only get easier for the government to do that crap from here on out...
