That time in the summer of 2008 when presidential candidate Barack Obama convinced Iraqi leadership to hold off on negotiations of troop withdrawal until after the elections....
It wasn't the crime, it was the attempted cover-up.
what cover-up? He was interviewed by the FBI over a month ago.
I'm trying to remember when he paid off a Shill (in form of UN Ambassadorship) to go on TV and lie about a YT video that prompted a "protest" that got a "little" out-of-hand...
The leak of the contents of the conversations to the news is crime, fwiw.

Don't **** with the spies... they will get back at you. So do you honestly think if the leak didn't happen we would've known anything? The guy lied and tried to cover it up. I hope they reduce his rank in retirement to O7 instead of O9. Plenty of recent precedent for it.
Technically isnt trump the big investigator? Dont ya know how long it took him to investigate Obamas birth records? Only if he spends the same amount of energy on investigating the people hes appointing into office...
The Democrats should investigate this matter ... oh wait, they wouldn't want to expose their shadow government.
Do you not also think the TS/SCI full scope should be revoked for a certain people?
He violated the Logan act.
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both
Although I think what he did was problematic, I think the issue is that the GOP led congress wasn't going to investigate it. That's troubling.
It is also troubling that intelligence agencies actually leaked information that was so influential. I mean, Trump has been trash talking them so I get that they're pissed, but this is pretty bizarre.
The fact that he resigned means that congress may no longer launch an investigation. Who knows what else would have turned up. I am pretty surprised at how mute so many folks on the right are about this stuff.
Putin wants US sanctions lifted because there was a contract worth 500 billion from exxon heading his way that is no longer at play. Tillerson is sec of state now. How interesting.
On another note, I've found it pretty amusing how folks are up the ACLU's *** for their statement defending Milo. It's the ******* ACLU. They don't really take sides. They're pretty true to their word when it comes to protecting free speech even if it's inconvenient. I've seen a lot of liberal friends talk about how disappointed they are in the organization and I've always asked them why they're interested in selective enforcement of things like that. It's like, you're allowed to not like it, but don't be seemingly outraged by something that they have a history of doing. I mean the ACLU went to bat for actual ***** in the US in the past when it came to them marching through a city filled with holocaust survivors. It's what they do.

In a perfect world our democratic institutions would actually act as the check to the others. Our institutions have been inoperative for some time now. IMO, it's the reasoning for the leaks to force the check and balance. Not defending but can see the rationale.
I think you'll see more leaks until such time as one of those takes action and actually does their job. You already had more leaked over the past couple days. Kind of like a trail of breadcrumbs.

That's pretty messed up though. You really can't call it a democracy if intelligence is actively burning people it disagrees with.

That should scare you.
It would scare me more to have our congress be so set on party grounds that an administration can do whatever it wants with no recourse other than a few "so called" judges.
Watergate uncovered a crime because of an initial leak. Crooked politicians regardless of party need to be rooted out. And I'm thankful for organizations like the ACLU.

except as far as we know, he didn't violate it... and we all know that Act is only used for political theater.
That says: no private person can try to conduct foreign policy without the permission of the US govt.
did he? As far as we know he didn't. All we know is they talked. That's not against the Logan Act. He was interviewed by the FBI over a month ago, and they haven't pressed any felony charges that he lied to them.
Plus, Intelligence officials say they actually read the transcripts and don't think there was any wrong doing.
So maybe the sanctions came up in discussion, but did he tell Russia that Trump would ease them? You don't know.
AND while not quite in the white house, one could easily argue he was no longer a private citizen at the time, being the advisor to the President-Elect...
okay, now, what did he lie about, and what was the cover-up?
He "lied" to Pence? So what? That it?
And the cover-up? again, where? Are you suggesting him telling the VP that he didn't discuss sanctions a cover-up? bitch, u cray.
Remember, when there was an attack on our embassy in Benghazi? Clinton and a few close to her, got in a room, and made up a false narrative about what happened. They actually invented a story about a protest gone bad, when it was a planned attack by Islamic Terrorists, and then blamed it in reaction to some YT video only 1000 people at the time had even seen. Susan Rice then went on TV and lied, over and over and over again, knowledgeably misleading the public on purpose about the events that unfolded. She was, ironically, wait for it...
...awarded the National Security Advisor spot.
And the security clearance of the leaked intelligence, that's an actual crime, but you don't care about that do you? Even had actually showed he told Russia President Trump would ease sanctions once in office, or that he was sorry 35 "spies" got booted from the US, and maybe don't nuke us in the meantime, so what?
It's a non-story. If this is the worst you can come up with, this is going to be a fun 4-years...dams of tears are going to burst all over the country, not just CA.

I wonder if they'll leak his tax returns next.
I personally like that the leaks are happening, but I do still see it as problematic. In all honesty congress should be doing its due diligence. That said, the judge Trump kicked out had warned them about Flynn being compromised. Now info is coming out that Trump aides were in contact with Russia during the campaign...
I read somewhere that it seems like enough is being leaked to get the administration to make a statement about it and then more is leaked to disprove the administration's stance and send them scrambling. Rinse and repeat.

I think there was several million spent on investigations into Benghazi with the same theatrical results. Nada.
So let's have an investigation into this whole Russia thing and maybe we all get to the same place. Sounds good?
