Six.

In other news, when I first saw this quote, I assumed that it was BS.

It turns out that it is not.

“Just because you legally possess a gun, in the sanctity of your locked home, doesn't mean that we're not going to walk into that home and check to see if you're being responsible.”

- Kamala Harris, May 2007

For someone who keeps warning us that Trump is a dictator and strongly implying that conservatives are a bunch of fascists, the VP seems to be saying and doing a lot of fascist-dictator stuff herself.

It's alright by everyone though because it's for the overall good of society. You can't get rid of thoughtcrime without first getting rid of real crime, you know. And to get rid of real crime they must take all the weapons away first.

The Constitution is just a piece of paper after all. It can be ignored, interpreted, added to, or just crumpled up and tossed out when it's for the better good of society.

And what could be better for society than everyone being the same and in the same situation with the government in charge of making sure equality for all. Utopia.

Batman 1966 narrator voice:
"Meanwhile, behind the facade of this innocent looking bookstore..."
WASHINGTON: The US Federal Reserve cut its key lending rate by 50 basis points, or half a percentage point, on Wednesday (Sep 18) in its first reduction since the COVID-19 pandemic, sharply lowering borrowing costs just before November's presidential election. Against this backdrop, Wednesday's large Fed rate cut is probably good news for Democratic presidential candidate and US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running against Republican former president Donald Trump in the upcoming election."I was a little surprised it was 50 (basis points) and not 25, but I think the chairman did a nice job of explaining," former Boston Fed president Eric Rosengren told AFP.

The Fed's rate-setting committee most likely went for the larger cut in response to recent weaker-than-expected jobs data and the "very positive news" on inflation, added Rosengren, a visiting scholar at MIT.

"I don't think it's panic. I think it's more a strategic decision by the Fed," Citi global chief economist Nathan Sheets told AFP, adding that the next steps were "not so clear".

William Lee, chief economist at the Milken Institute, said it seems Powell has made it very clear the Fed is committed to lowering interest rates back to a more neutral position. "Right now, the US economy is doing quite well, and they're also satisfied that inflation is well on its way towards 2 per cent," he told CNA's Asia Now on Thursday, on the sidelines of the Milken Institute's Asia Summit.

2nd Wave of Explosions Hits Communications Devices Across Lebanon

A Hezbollah official says walkie-talkies used by the group exploded across Beirut, a day after pagers blew up

Electronic devices detonated across southern Lebanon and in Beirut’s southern suburbs for the second day in a row on Sept. 18, according to Lebanese officials and witnesses who spoke with Reuters.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry says at least 14 people were killed and more than 450 were injured in the second wave of explosions.

Several of the Wednesday blasts were reported at funerals organized for those killed in a wave of exploding handheld electronic pagers the day prior. The Wednesday funerals processions were being held for slain members of Hezbollah; an Iranian-aligned Shia Islamist Lebanese faction designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and Israel.
Hezbollah’s Al Manar TV reported explosions in multiple areas of Lebanon, which it said were caused by detonating walkie-talkies.

Real dictatorship:

Brazil’s X Ban: VPN Fines Mark New Internet Battlefield, Free Speech Advocates Say

Brazil has imposed an $8,900 per day fine on anyone trying to get around the ban on X by using VPN software that allows users to hide their location.

...
In his decision, de Moraes said X will remain blocked until it complies with his orders.

“Elon Musk showed his total disrespect for Brazilian sovereignty and, in particular, for the judiciary, setting himself up as a true supranational entity and immune to the laws of each country,” de Moraes wrote.

The suspension was widely anticipated as X
on Aug. 29 that it expected to be shut down in Brazil because of what it described as “illegal orders” to censor political opponents.

Last month, Brazil’s Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered all telecom providers in the country to block access to X, escalating a months-long dispute between X owner Elon Musk and the Latin American country over free speech and posts that the judge described as misinformation. The judge imposed daily fines of $8,900 for anyone caught bypassing the ban using VPNs (virtual private networks), which allow people to access the internet as if they were located in a different country.

Authorities in Brazil have previously ordered telecommunications providers to block access to certain websites or face daily fines.

Earlier this year, de Moraes ordered X to block certain accounts (of political opponents) amid investigations into so-called digital militias accused of spreading fake news and hate messages during the government of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

Last year, a federal judge in Brazil ordered a temporary suspension of messaging app Telegram, citing the social media platform’s alleged failure to provide all the information that Federal Police requested on neo-**** chat groups.

In 2016, a Brazilian court issued a nationwide ban on the messaging app WhatsApp, which had more than 100 million users, for 72 hours.

Owner Meta had failed to provide encrypted information requested in a police investigation, the fourth block ordered against WhatsApp in Brazil since February 2015.

At the time, the court ruled that providers that do not cut off access to WhatsApp be fined the equivalent of $15,300 a day until they comply.

Government blocks a platform - "Fascism!"

Government colludes with platform to block dissenting opinions and facts under the guise of "misinformation" - "Thank goodness they're saving democracy!"

What weird times we live in.

This is becoming increasingly fascinating. At first I thought that this was perhaps a short term play targeting only the pagers, but in addition to the radios which have likely been in their possession for some time, there are videos of purportedly a number of other household electronics also going off. It would seem that the Mossad has been executing this one for quite a while, likely well before the most recent conflict. Imagine trying to fight a war in 2024 and having to question seemingly every electronic widget in your possession.

For some reason, the various anti-Israel militias seem to have a very short memory. Or perhaps just poor logical reasoning skills.

Mossad is not an organization to be trifled with. They have more covert assassinations under their belt than MI-6 from the James Bond franchise. I mean, this is the agency which, after the 1972 Olympic massacre, spent the next seven years methodically tracking down and executing the perpetrators one by one. Talk about a vendetta...

They even have their own venture capital division which acts as a technology incubator for Israeli firms developing cyber-warfare tools.

Now, don't get me wrong here; I am very much of the opinion that the world as a whole would be a better place if Israel (as well as all of the Islamic-ruled states) simply ceased to exist.

However that's not to say that I am an advocate for genocide. And I do recognize the right of one nation to defend itself from attack by another, and to use wildly disproportionate retaliatory force in doing so, if said retaliation actually serves as a deterrent to future violence rather than directly causing an escalation to global or nuclear conflict.

Even better if some of the electronics were rigged but not set off -
“So, Hakim, tell me - why did your pager not explode?”

I used to joke “don’t f*** with the Israelis,” but damn…..

That would be the most delightful ironic twist in a while. A terrorist terrorized by communication devices. They'd better watch out for pigeons, too.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't know how this happens. Or if it happens, they go back to their country of origin without their *****. Not a good look for Democrats.

Can ANYONE explain how this happens, and how Harris/Walz doesn't simply drop out of the race?

How does a candidate receive stolen information from a STATE ENEMY, and not IMMEDIATELY TELL THE FBI?!

Easy: Democrats. And the FBI was in on the last 'collusion' deal, so they probably already knew.

Yet again, they've proven that they are already doing literally EVERYTHING they accuse the Republicans/Trump of doing or wanting to do.

Because the left doesn't care, Trump bad. NBC is already running the headline "Trump falsely accuses Harris campaign of involvement in Iran hack."

As far as I'm concerned, if Harris sat on the information for more than 24 hours, it's collusion.
