Hah, I honestly had never even noticed that until you pointed it out.

Dom is a cool guy. Very much not a fascist.

I had no idea that the news dept was going to make this a part of their retrospective. I designed and fabricated that box myself. I assumed that it would just remain an inside joke. Like, "Yes, all of the candidates this year are clowns" between the dozen or so producers and directors who would ever see it.

But no.

I post this merely as nerd-cred.

I know that some folks here think that I'm a liberal shill. I want them to know that I risked my career to make a clown's nose equivalent to democrat mayor candidates in Chicago going over-time in a debate.
If making a clown nose button in a studio that once had a clown show would be career-ending, then I think you're missing the bigger picture. It's kinda like not clapping loud enough for Xi. Good job on the box though. I'd pay money for that!

Well, perhaps I'm being overly dramatic. It could have resulted in some conflict if Mayor Johnson had decided to be a little bitch about it like Lightfoot was. We rely upon the favour of The Crown to grease the wheels for things like parade permits and special exemptions for having a helicopter pad in the middle of a residential neighborhood right next to a public school.

On this day in 1992, having previously killed her youngest son (by shooting him in the back as he was running from them), an FBI sniper murdered Vicki Weaver by shooting her from a range of 200 yards as she stood in the doorway of her own home, holding her 10 month old daughter in her arms, pleading for the lives of her still-living children to be spared.

Vicki's crime was being married to Randy weaver, a Vietnam veteran who moved to Idaho to become a farmer, and who had subsequently accepted an offer from an undercover ATF informant to shorten the barrels of two shotguns.

Randy, who was wounded by the same bullet which killed his wife, was subsequently acquitted of all criminal charges.

The government employees who murdered his wife (Lon Horiuchi) and son (Art Roderick, Larry Cooper, and William F. Degan) were not criminally prosecuted for their actions due to the Qualified Immunity doctrine.

Reading this, I have a feeling we're not just fucked as a country, but as a species... but I'll bet she's pretty.

Who, Alayna Treene?

When I became a liberal shill in the autumn of 2017, my standards of beauty changed dramatically. Now, I find her to be far too stereotypically "pretty."

By contrast, it seems like every time I come across the twitter / etc profile of someone who makes me think "Wow, she's really attractive," they turn out to be either gay or trans / nonbinary. And also list their self-diagnosed mental disorders next to their pronouns.

It's rough being a white, cisgender, heterosexual, privileged liberal male who #BelievesAllWomen, believes that Black Lives Matter, does not have PTSD or ADHD or Autism, and also free Palestine. (He / Him) #NeverTrump

This is true.

I also find, as a broad generalization, that lesbians / enbys tend to wear less makeup than their straight counterparts, use less nail polish, prefer practical clothing and shoes over dresses and heels, etc. All of these are desirable characteristics. (Basically the exact opposite of trans-women who tend to go over the top to look "girly.")

The fine line is getting to that point without being heavily tattooed, facial piercings, Subaru ownership, those massive ear-holes, having elective breast-removal surgery (typically called top-surgery within the queer community), etc. Those are all undesirable characteristics.

STD rates are also much higher for queer AFABs as compared to straight gals. Not surprising, given that BPD and bipolar are common co-morbidities to gender dysphoria and polyamory, which of course leads to poor decision-making, more sexual partners, more IV drug use, etc...

Anyway, enough about my dream date. Time for more RFK trash-talk:

Kanekoa the Great is an absolutely fantastic source of information. If he was around 28-ish years ago, he'd have broken the story about Monica's blue dress. RFK is supposed to speak at Trump's AZ rally today. There will be an endorsement. The funny thing is that there are people mentioning him for CIA director. That's a laugh riot. He'd probably make more waves as head of HHS.

Apparently the MSM was carrying the announcement live....until he accused them of participating in government censorship. The MSM is not your friend.

Any one specific media outlet in particular, or just all broadcast media in general?

A while ago, I posted the tale of Uri Berliner, a senior business editor at NPR, who wrote an article for The Free Press (which is a great site), lamenting how NPR had lost its way during the 25 years he's been there, and betrayed the trust of the American people.

NPR's CEO Katherine Maher, unsurprisingly, fired him. Well, she... motivated him to resign. One of those situations. And she faced some serious criticism for that.

Back in 2022, Maher gave a Ted Talk entitled "What Wikipedia Teaches Us About Balancing Truth and Beliefs." I'll post the whole thing below, but I point to one specific excerpt:

Our reverence for the truth might be a distraction that is getting in the way of finding common ground and getting things done.

That is not to say that the truth doesn't exist or to say that the truth isn't important. Clearly the search for the truth has led us to do great things, to learn great things, but I think if I were to really ask you to think about this, one thing you would acknowledge is one reason we have such glorious chronicles to the human experience and all forms of culture is because we acknowledge there are many different truths.

I'm certain that the truth exists for you. And probably for the person sitting next to you. But this may not be the same truth. That is because the truth of the matter is very often for many people what happens when we merge facts about the world with our beliefs about the world. So we all have different truths. They are based on things like where we come from, how we were raised, and how other people perceive us.

Now, apart from the fact that she is ripping off Obi-Wan Kenobi here, consider that Ted Talks are not interviews or debates. They are not extemporaneous. They are scripted, edited, and rehearsed. So she thought very deliberately about those words.

People like that are in charge of some legacy media organizations. Others are led by people like Bill Shine, who was fired from Fox because he fired Bill O’Reilly for sexually harassing Fox News analyst Lis Wiehl (and also sending her gay ****), just as Shine’s boss Roger Ailes had also been fired, by Fox, for sexually harassing hosts Gretchen Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and Andrea Tantaros. At his new job, Shine then hired Michael Corn, who was ousted from Good Morning America in 2021 for (wait for it...) sexually harassing producer Kirstyn Crawford.

The fact of the matter, however, is that the truth IS malleable. Truth has had many gatekeepers over the years. First it was the village elder, then it was the clergy, later it became the press, and today it is neckbearded pronoun-people who edit Wikipedia and write articles on why expecting employees to show up on time and not steal from the company is racist.

Anyway, here's the original:

Joe, are you familiar with the phrase "A lie can go around the world before the truth gets its boots on."? Because that is sort of pertinent to this.
