“Even if these nightmare scenarios never play out, and I pray they never do, the damage has been done. The relationship between the President and the people he serves has shifted irrevocably. In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law.” --

Sotomayor

Is the irony not lost on these heathens?

I'm worried about the fact that Biden still has six months to go.
What are the other world leaders thinking about all this? It's embarrassing no matter where you stand.

You know the media and government officials that have been telling us that brandon is fully capable of being POTUS for another 4yrs, when obviously he is not, as proven by his debate performance. What is weird is that if anyone spent 5min on Fox or any other right leaning publication you would have been informed of the fact. I guess those that are in shock were frequent viewers of msnbc.

Honestly, I think you're giving conventional broadcast / cable TV far too much credit here. (And showing your age.)

Those who are in shock more than likely get the majority of their news and information from TikTok, Twitter, and similar bastions of journalistic integrity.

I guess at some point I became an old fart. It just seemed to happen so quickly.

I'm worried about the fact that people who describe themselves as "conservative" are rejoicing in today's SCOTUS decision which decreases the accountability of / expands the power of the US government.

It's as though they, like the lefties, only pay attention when a court ruling benefits the "other side." They appear to forget that sides, parties, and alliances all change, but powers and authorities granted to government are forever.

Can you imagine being personally liable for everything you did as the head of a country? My daughter is going to Austin on Wednesday to stay with a friend's aunt, play in their pool, ride in their boat(s), and Lord knows what else. The aunt had her sign a waiver because she's been sued before by a friend who slipped on her pool deck. A family could be destroyed by a slip n' fall law suit, even if it wasn't their fault.

Whaddaya think would happen to a president--either party--who has millions of haters and four years of tough decisions?

Every single federal officer/employee has qualified immunity when performing their official duties, but extend it to the office of the president and suddenly it's a scary power grab.

Westfall v. Irwin, 484 U.S. 292, 297-298 (1988)
Liability Reform and Tort Compensation Act of 1988
See United States v. Smith, 499 U.S. 160 (1991)
28 U.S.C. § 2679(b)(1 -2)
Harlow v. Fitzgerald, 457 U.S. 800, 807 (1982)
Butz v. Economou, 438 U.S. 478 (1978)
Mitchell v. Forsyth, 472 U.S. 511, 526 (1985)

But let's not talk about how Judges and Prosecutors enjoy ABSOULTE immunity...
