Complicit corporations make for compliant citizens...
Complicit corporations make for compliant citizens...
NO STANDING.
For as much as folks on the far-right like to complain about the "mainstream media" having a leftist agenda, as this far-left poster (who is, himself, a contributor to the New York Times, one of the publications cited here) observes, the mainstream media sure does seem to be focusing an awful lot on President Biden's age and deteriorating mental state.
When down-ticket D candidates are significantly out-polling the president in the same states, the national party must realize that he’s a problem.

Clinton defeated Sanders cleanly in the primary, 55% to 43%, with no clearly obvious pattern to the outcome other than that Bernie took largely rural states with low population densities, while Clinton prevailed in states with high GDPs and large numbers of electors. Eg: Bernie won Washington and Oregon, but Clinton won California. Bernie won Michigan and Indiana, but Clinton won Illinois. Bernie won New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island, but Clinton won New York and New Jersey. Bernie won Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma, but Clinton won Texas.
It's not just the far-right MAGA fans. I personally believe that it'd be in the dems' best interest to pull a surprise switcharoo at the last minute. See message # 30532 (dated June 13, 2024) in this thread.
What did the dems do to Bernie in 2016?

It might be an unwritten rule, but harris may have the first right of refusal. Many believe she is not a natural born citizen which could be an obstacle, but she will pick up the black and woman vote. Could we end up with a less capable potus?

But none of that changes the fact that Clinton won 55.2% of the popular vote in the 2016 primary (16,847,084 votes) vs. Sanders' 43.1% (13,168,222 votes.)
And the popular vote breakdown precisely matches that of the pledged delegates. In keeping with his image as the intellectuals' socialist, Bernie was popular in whiter and more rural states characterized by higher than average levels of literacy and educational attainment, while Hillary's slick, celebrity-driven image was favored by individual voters in 9 of the 10 most populous states, including California, New York, Texas, and Florida, with higher than average levels of violent crime and welfare-dependency.
Superdelegates had nothing to do with that.

But, in all seriousness, I am a member of the mainstream media. Specifically, I'm the chief engineer of both the highest-rated local news station in the central and mountain time zones, and also the lowest-rated cable news channel in the US. It's an interesting position to be in.
And I know better than to publicly accuse my employer of political corruption.
Privately, yes, I've told the national VP to go **** his own mother (paraphrasing.) But in public?
When someone like that goes on a rant about their own employer, on a forum with massive public visibility, it usually means that they've either got an agenda or a grudge. That's not conducive to making me trust that they are a rational source of objective truth.
Oh, sure. There was also a big Wikileaks dump proving that key DNC members hated Bernie. And also cyberattacks resulting in a massive data breach of the DNC. Julian Assange even had a cameo appearance. But shenanigans like that have become business as usual within party primaries, which are even more opaque, convoluted, and rife with opportunities for corruption and influence-peddling than the general election.

Speaking of Julian Assange...
Thank you. I write my own material.

Media Matters...hmmm......
When biden does poorly in the debate the democrats will use that to convince all that they need a replacement. If obama has any say it will be michele. She has all of the benefits of harris with a slightly higher IQ.
if biden is on a bunch of meds it might cause a health concern or issue. I bet that cnn will have them seated. We know Trump can stand for a couple of hrs, but no way biden can.
I think it’s plausible that they do not want the media that close to biden because he might be substituted with a double. If so the penalty for all cnn staff should be treason and you know what the penalty is for that crime.
