This seems relevant, as we bid farewell to clown # 45, and prepare to welcome clown # 46, who will undoubtedly fix everything (regardless of whether it's broken or not), free the children from the cages which he and his boss built 10 years ago, and increase government spending and power yet again.

Right now, the only thing they care about is that they've spent the past four years compressing all of their fears and doubts and hatred into a little cloud, and then cast that cloud upon a single boogeyman. And they fully expect that, in a few weeks, all those troubles will drift away as that boogeyman is removed from office and replaced with someone equally untrustworthy and disingenuous.
