Default NB2 on Orlando Craigslist

Can't speak to the asking price of 8700, but looks decent for a car with some nice parts and 66k miles. I'm guessing he'd take offers as well.

Why would you put 7k into a car you still have a loan on? He probably didn't expect to get rid of it already but still, damn. Nice car though.

Yeah, I figured he'd play ball if wanted to move on things and get that out of his life.

If you have to take out a loan for a $6k car you should be saving up and spending $1500 cash instead and financing nothing.

Buying a bunch of stupid **** for car that you have a loan on instead of paying off the loan is even more foolish.

Expecting to get paid back for the money you spent on routine maintenance **** like replacing tires and such demonstrates it further.

Asking twice the market price for a car seals the deal on stupid.

"Having to take a loan" and "taking a loan" for a $6k car are two different things, to be fair.

I take loans on car purchases over $5k. Why? Because they're nearly free, build more rapport with my bank, strong credit history, keeps more of my assets liquid, and makes any inevitable surprises from purchasing a cheap gross old car easier to deal with.

But NEEDING to? Yeah that's dumb. If you NEED to take a loan on a $6k car, then you probably shouldn't be looking at Miatas.

why take a loan on a cheap car? because they don't give loans for suspension, wheels and tires at the bank. At least not at 2% rate...

If you can't afford to pay cash for your toy car then you can't afford a toy car. Get off my lawn!

From the ad:

At home till March Just had back surgery, Come and see anytime.

Selling for a few reasons.I had baby 6 months ago need 4 door, back surgery 12/4/17 , and my daily honda died a few months back timing belt...so car is not very practical for me right now.
I think I saw this guy post on a forum somewhere else as well. Back surgery sucks, especially when it doesn't go well. So instead of inventing this strawman fantasy.... maybe see what the dude wrote lol.

Has a daily but doesn't do routine timing belt change. Instead buys toy parts for toy car he can't afford already. Knocks up girl when already in a poor position to meet obligations.

Sometimes financial pain is an excellent teacher.

Why is everyone assuming this guy has financial trouble? He just had back surgery and is probably getting rid of the car because he knows he won't be able to use it for the foreseeable future. His price may be high but it's not because of the loan which is only $4k. Everyone seems really quick to jump to conclusions with no real supporting evidence.

What should you be looking at? If I needed a loan for a $6k car then I'd definitely be looking at cheap Miata's. There aren't a whole lot of options out there that are cheaper, more reliable, and more economical in the ~$2000 price range than a Miata.

Granted, they may not be the most practical if you've got a newborn and just had back surgery, but they're perfectly practical for a lot of poor people that don't want to hate their life driving something that sucks. I actually thought that was kind of the whole point of the Miata.

For $2000, i'm looking for transportation. $2000 doesn't allow you wiggle room to be picky. You buy the nicest thing with 4 wheels you can get and hope it doesn't blow up in next week.

Okay, since this is turned into r/writtingplot

what if he actually did the maintenance, but the technician didn't do the work properly or the replacement part happened to be the within the percentile of good parts that fail. Now he's got an extra car that is just not of use and he needs to get rid of it.
