I think its obvious that the thread has derailed from the focus of selling the car, so id like to put in my 2c
why oh why people acquire beat up salvage title stripped rollers, and then proceed to install $10-20k worth of really nice parts, just to end up with a horrid looking and expensive auto that no one else will ever buy from them?!? especially when CLEAN miatas can be had for 2k and if one looks hard enough, find a clean one with a blown motor for under $1k.
example. i picked this 94 up for $600. body is MINT, blown motor.
Oh, and a word of advise to the OP;
Hit up the local pick a part junk yard, and spend a few hundred on pulling and buying a soft top and all the missing interior bits, bring the car to a normal car condition that can be driven in the rain. and a Maaco $400 paint job so it doesnt look bonkers and all the same color. then you might have a chance of getting $6-7k for it. as it stands its a $4k unfinished project car. or cut your losses and part it out.

As far as selling the car goes, I am going to hold onto it. There were 2 reasons I made the thread. One was an offer I received. If I could have squeezed out a couple extra grand it would be worth me selling it. This obviously didn’t happen as this thread took a major detour. I probably should have started out mentioning I had already received an offer of 12k, and it may have given a little more perspective as to why I chose such a high price. 2nd is I am selling my house, resulting in a couple of moves coming up that would be easier with only one Miata. A couple of things have changed that will make this easier. I will make my first move in about a month. After that, the car will undergo a major surgery.

That's the thing I love about this site: we don't have a bunch of pretentious swaggots who will desire a grossly overpriced car just cause you tell em someone was dumb enough to offer way too much for it. You might think that's rude, or mean, but it's not. The other two sites are already filled to the brim with that type of idiocracy, I consider this place "the last frontier" for reality and truth.

Funny thing about looks... they don’t actually make a car more reliable, faster, more fun, or a better track car. It is purely aesthetic. For a race car, who cares about looks. Paint may come in the future, but it’s doubtful. I think I’m more likely to take the harlequin look to another level with all SE color body parts.

But looks impact value. As it's setup right now it's an HPDE car, not a race car. So 99% of buyers would pay more for a clean body / paint car. So many ads are like "just needs paint". Aka just needs a few grand but I'm treating it like it'll magically be $250.

A blown motor that isn’t currently in the car... I’ve driven this stock motor for over 40k miles boosted in different forms. Seems pretty reliable to me. It’s never left me stranded.
The head gasket blew on the built motor. That is currently on a stand in the garage awaiting TLC.
