F/S- 96rdstr's 1996 Turbo Miata with video and pics
I know that most people on here already have a turbo'd Miata, but you never know who might be lurking for one.
I have decided to sell the car because I want something a little bigger to drive. So here is the skinny on the car. I have owned the car for about 5-6 years, and I hold the title free and clear. When I bought the car it had 46k miles on it and was a bone stock C package car. I still have the original window sticker in the glove box. I work from home so the car is driven daily to take my son from school and pick him up(about 3 miles total). Most of the miles that are put on the car are caused from going to and from Disney a couple of times a month(about 150 miles round trip). The car has about 15k miles of boosted time. I had a JRSC for about a year back in 07, and then I went back to NA for a year or so. I put the turbo system on last spring. I have never tracked the car, nor did I ever auto-cross the car. The car is not smog legal so it will need to stay in the state. I have the original window sticker.
Chapter 1: The Mechanical Basics
1996 Mazda Miata, 1.8L, Original Motor and 5spd tranny with 106k miles
Mazda Factory Replacement parts only-T Belt, cam seals, engine seals, tranny seals all serviced and replaced by me in 3/9. The car has maybe 9k miles since the service was done.
Mobil 1-5w30 oil changed every 3k miles.
Royal Purple Synthetic Tranny and Differential fluids serviced in 3/9
Clutchnet Red 2X 6 puck racing clutch, installed 3/9
Coolant Hoses upper, lower and heater core replaced 3/9
SS Clutch line replaced 3/9
Mazdaspeed Motor mounts replaced 3/9
Original radiator and fans
Limited Slip Differential-Window Sticker says TORSEN
Heater and A/C work perfectly
Coil Packs and Plugs replaced in 5/9
Chapter 2: The Power Adders
Custom Turbo charger set up for the 1.8L
Log manifold, no cracks
Journal bearing, Oil Cooled T3/4 Hybrid-I think it is a 50trim not 100%. I replaces the bearings and seals in May 09-No shaft play and spins freely.
Turbonetics External Wastegate with 7psi Spring
Mild Steel Downpipe
RX7 460cc injectors(red tops) professionally cleaned in 3/9-Injector Rehab
Enthuza 2.5 Inch SS Test Pipe
Enthuza 2.5 Inch SS Turbo Racer Cat Back
Mild Steel Intercooler pipes with Silicone couplers and T bolt clamps
FMIC
Turbonetics Manual Boost Controller
I also have an Electronic Boost Controller from DIY that I never got around to installing, but is wired for the Megasquirt PNP
AEM UEGO Wideband O2 Sensor and controller
Autometer Boost gauge
HKS SSQV Blow off Valve- installed earlier this year
MAF delete with GM Based IAT sensor
96-97 MSPNP Standalone ECU, cable and CD-ROM
SS Braided oil Feed Line
Custom Oil Cooler set up-all parts from Pegasus
The car made 243rwhp and 199ftlbs tq at 6500rpms over at Proven Power in Tampa.
Chapter 3: The Interior
Power Mirrors
Power Antenna
Power Windows
Mazdaspeed Foot Rest and Pedals
KG Works Instrument panel in Black and Chrome
Art Werks Dewa gauge faces
Art Werks Dewa aluminum needle caps

Japanese Spec Door panels with factory SS tear drop speaker surrounds
1995 Door Pulls
Factory Seats
Loop Carpet from a pre-96 Miata
Factory Miata floor mats
Black Hard Dog Ace Roll Bar installed 8/9
Radio DOES NOT go with the car. Get your own.
Chapter 3: The Exterior and Suspension
Classic Red Paint-There was a respray of the passenger fender and door. The PO hit a yellow concrete pole and a gas station. Minor dings and scrathes. Car looks good when washed and waxed
Mazda Japan factory side fender markers wired for parking lights and blinkers
KG Works SS TSI's
15x7 Champaign Chapparrals from Rspeed with Vintage Mazda center caps-No curb rash or damage
Dunlop Direzza DZ101 205-50-15's with about 800 miles on them
Flying Miata front and rear sway bars
Racing Beat adjustable endlinks
Racing Beat poly sway bushings
Tokico HP Shocks and Springs-4 years old-maybe 25k miles on them
Brake pads and fluid replaced last 8/9
I also have EBC Yellow(Fronts) and EBC Reds(Rear) that have minor use and are in a box. I drove down to Sebring, but didn't get to run.
Mazda Front Mask
New Windshield installed 2 years ago
Miata Top is about 5 years old. No rips, tears or cracks, but see below.
Chapter 4: The Rub
Needs rear wheel bearings. They are just noisy.
The Miata Top-The zipper head to the rear window is broken. The window is in the closed position, so putting the top up or down is ok, as long as you make sure the plastic window doesnt kink.
The rubber seals that are on the top could stand to be replaced.
The power steering rack was de-powered. I cut the existing lines and looped them. It isn't hard to turn the wheel in a parking lot at all. I have have the pump, resivoir and brackets in a box, but you will need to get new PS lines if you go to reinstall the PS set up.
The car does not have the factory O2 sensors since I went standalone-
I do have the factory ECU in the parts bin along with other nuts, bolts, brackets and pieces that I removed from the car.
The driver's side seat bolster shows wear.
Chapter 5: The End Credits
This has been a great car for me, both in the normally aspirated and the boosted forms. It is obviously more fun with the additional power, but it can be dangerous as well. I haven't had any issues with the car at all, and I am confident that this would be a great car for someone else. I will give the Megasquirt software and all the maps to whomever buys the car. Please keep in mind that this is a 14yo car with a lot of aftermarket stuff on it. Things are bound to break eventually, but treat it well and you will get a lot of years out of it. Please shoot me a PM or an email if you are interested to see it or would like to drive the car. No Joyriders

Would you be willing to part with the AWD gauges/caps? (and possibly the KG works instrument panel?) I can supply stock parts in exchange. Seems like the kind of thing that a lot of people don't care about/won't really raise your sale price much. I know it's a bit of a pain to pull them, but let me know, thanks!

Yeah, it would easily make it to VA. Honestly, most of my miles are highway miles. I work from home so I don't commute. I have driven this car all over FL without issue. We go to Orlando a couple of times a month. It has been to Daytona Beach a few times and down to Naples FL.
It will not pass smog.

Man i want your car so bad. I love how clean it is. I emailed the videos to my wife, we'll see what she says. I'm in SC also, just won't be able to move.
