AZ: 1999 Miata with NB2 engine/ front end swap
#1
SOLD 1999 Miata with NB2 engine/ front end swap
I have reluctantly decided to sell my 1999 NB, because my wife and I have decided we really want to get back into an NC PRHT for our 'street' Miata.
SOLD!
Car is located in Sierra Vista, AZ. Clean title in-hand.
I've owned this '99 for seven years, and have been slowly building it up as a really nice 'street' Miata. I already have an NA race car, so I didn't need or want another hard core Miata. This one was always targeted at 'OEM+'. You can look at my K-swap thread to see the level of work I hold myself to on my project cars. I didn't hold back or cut corners with this car, and spent good money on good parts. It's a very clean, rust free car, and everything is 'done' except "power" mods.
This was originally a California automatic car. After buying it, I swapped in a manual drivetrain with a 120k mile NB2 engine, and a 5 speed out of another '99 I owned. At the time of the swap it got new timing belt, water pump, seals, fluids, etc. It's installed with the '99 intake manifold (VICS inactive), and the NB2 exhaust, with stock mid-pipe/cat, and some random cat-back that came on the car and sounds decent. Currently running a '99 manual ECU, so VVT is not active. Cruise is also inactive, as I never got around to hooking it up. The plan for this car was to get the BP6D that came out of my race car after the K swap, after a rods/pistons rebuild/refresh with an MS3 PnP, and then a Kraken/GT2560R setup. That's why I didn't spend the effort to get the VVT functional, or do a lot with the current engine, thought it drives great.
The car was originally black, and in 2022 got a professional custom paint job with basecoat/clearcoat. The stripes are paint, not vinyl. The paint job was done by a local hot rod shop and is good quality, though it's definitely not high-end show quality. It looks great in person. The underside of the hood and trunk and the door jambs were also painted, so the only thing that shows it's a color change is the engine compartment. The door openings were seam welded before it was painted. Front bumper cover and lights were swapped to NB2. New windshield and quality ceramic tint were installed after paint.
I have been completely through the mechanicals on the car. Everything is new. Hubs/bearings, tie rods, ball joints, brake calipers (rebuilt). Hawk HPS pads, Supermiata brake lines, Motul fluid, extended ARP studs, I.L. motorsports bushings. Supermiata Tecna coilovers, RB front sway bar. 4.30 Torsen, poly diff bushings. Brakes have less than 5K miles, the suspension less than 1k miles. Supermiata radiator and Dave Fab overflow tank.
The interior is in great shape, but it is a 25 year old car, so not perfect. NB2 seats in black cloth are currently installed. I also have the original seats in tan leather, which are also in very good condition. 'De-Bose'd' with JVC head unit, Pioneer speakers and a compact, powered subwoofer. Nothing special, but it sounds decent. A/C blows cold. Top is canvas, and in good condition. There are a couple of loose seams, but it's structurally intact and waterproof.
This is a good, solid car, and as I noted my next step was a turbo. I actually have most everything needed to put it together, but just don't want to invest the time at this point. Buyer will get first shot at a great price for all the turbo parts, but if they don't want it I'll put up a separate thread, please don't ask here.
Otherwise, feel free to ask questions. If you're interested, please PM and I'll be happy to provide email/phone and we can talk.
