97 Miata track car - Rotrex, Xidas, BBK, forged internals
After seven years of ownership, it has come time to part ways with my track car. I am shifting my focus over to my enduro Miata so no love lost here.
The car was originally sold in CA at the end of 97 and lived there until 2013. It has been in Colorado ever since. I bought it as a track prepped car with blown ringlands (PO's build thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...e-build-79227/) and built the engine at 112k miles - currently sitting at 118k mi. Clean Colorado title in hand. I can share the Vincheck from when I last ran it and the VIN is JM1NA3534V0734266
Engine:
· Rotrex C30-74 w/ 75mm pulley - 206RWHP on a SuperFlow
· BP6D block
· ACL/King Race Bearings
· Manley H beam Rods
· Supertech 83.5mm 8.6:1 pistons
· Wiseco Rings
· ARP head and main studs
· Boundary Engineering billet oil pump
· Ported BP4W head
· Mazdaspeed intake cam
· Mazdaspeed oil baffle
· Mazdaspeed engine mounts
· Squaretop manifold
· DIY piping to a Mazdaspeed IC
· Megasquirt 2 PnP professionally tuned
· Innovate MTX-L
· Trackspeed medium core oil cooler
· Trackspeed radiator - dis a big boi
· Injector Dynamics 750cc injectors w/ Walbro LP190
· Racing Beat header
· Flyin Miata exhaust
· M-tuned coolant reroute
· FM happy meal clutch
· 6 speed trans w/ 4.1 torsen
Suspension Brakes and Wheels:
· SuperMiata Big Grip Kit: Xida 800/500, big Racing Beat front sway, tiny rear sway
· 949 Racing sway bar end links front/rear
· Flyin Miata frame rails
· Energy Suspension poly bushings with Sadfab bronze bearing retrofit
· New alignment bolts
· BroFab enduro front hubs
· 949Racing 11.75" Wilwood kit with Raybestos ST43 (only 3 minute sessions on them)
· Sport brakes in rear with PFC11
· 15x10 Dekagram w/ 245 RT660 (2 track days)
· Depowered PS rack (welded pinion)
Interior:
· Marrad seat on sliders - pretty neat with cushions that make it ride like OEM and you pull them for the track
· G-force cam lock harness
· Hard Dog double diag w/ padding
· Passenger seat is stock with belts (driver also retains seat belt)
· Momo Monte Carlo alcantara 325mm - this is so soft I've rubbed my face on it (sorry or bonus?)
Exterior:
· OEM headliner/defrost hard top with brackets and rear security brackets
· Clean Montego Blue hood and trunk are included. Set of R-Theory hood vents included for cutting
· Rattlecanned DIY vented hood
· Rattlecanned trunk with Blackbird Fabworx lexan spoiler
· Quarter window thing with pop out vent/air diverter "air conditioning"
· Replica R-package lip with 2.5" ducts to brakes
· Front tow hook
· Rear bumper is sliced
In its current form, this is an extremely solid and reliable lapping car. It has pace too - I don't think I have managed to drive away from an open track day without at least a handful of people coming by demanding to see under the hood or ask why/how a Miata kept up and got around them.
Aesthetically, the car is haggard - this is by design. There's a certain amount of pride we have in building up these platforms and there are a lot of egos at the track. I'm not sure there's a much greater joy for an aspiring HPDE champion than to divebomb a GT3 into a corner with a car worth 1/20th the value and has paint actively flaking off the hood. The sight of this car alone in their side view mirrors will trigger a deep fear that you may put your bumper into their door that costs more than the entire value of the Miata.
My friends and I have dragged this thing to tracks all over the south-western US and made a lot of great memories. I don't absolutely need to get rid of it but wouldn't mind passing it on to someone intending to track the hell out of it. The car received all fluids at the beginning of the year: Brotella T6, Motorcraft gear oil, Mobil1 on the diff, fresh Rotrex fluid (liquid gold @ $115 per qt), and Amsoil Dominator brake fluid.
With about a 3/4 tank of fuel the car weighed in just over 2200 lbs. Just aligned & corner balanced. AC compressor/lines/condenser are gone but the heat is still there. Evap core still under the hood. It still retains the interior so more weight reduction could be done. No stereo or speakers present. This is a "street" car but has no cat and no chance of passing emissions.
Asking $13k. Not sure if there's anything I'm missing, so feel free to reach out for questions or more photos.
