2000, 5 Speed, Built Motor w/ 949 CNC Head
It is a rather difficult decision to sell the car because I very much enjoy driving the car on the street and track. The best comment I heard from a Porsche Boxster driver at Thunderhill: what do you have in that car? He was not used to non-turbo Miatas moving away from him.
Pros:
Pros:
- Built Motor with 949 Racing CNC head, Super Miata Intake and Exhaust Cams and valves. 11:1 Compression Supertech piston, H-Beam forged rods, boundary engineering pump.
- Square Top intake manifold and Skunk Throttle body, MS II CPU tuned by Jei at Blacktrax
- Custom Made intake tube, Ebay exhaust manifold, 2.25" pipes and Roadster muffler
- Dynoed at 149 whp, compared to 105 whp stock on the same dyno (BlackTrax in Milpitas, CA). Their Dynos are know to read low. This may be a 160hp else where. I don't know so it is conjecture at best. I told Jei to give me a conservative tune because the car would see track time. The car has seen 7 or 8 track days since the rebuild with no issues.
- Smooth shifting 5-speed. No funny sounds or notchy feel
- Hard dog roll bar, Fat Cat Motorsport (revalved Bilsteins) coil overs with 500/325 # of springs
- Racing Beat 1" anti-roll bar up front. Stock anti-roll bar in the back.
- -2.5 degrees camber both front and back. Car is fairly set up fairly neutral
- Carbotech XP10 pads
- Bucket seat with harness
- 949 racing 9" wheels with fresh Kuhmo v730 225 tires
- Car does 2:05 at Thunderhill East, and 1:49 at Laguna with me driving it. Should be be 2:01 and 1:45 car with better drivers.
- It is a decent looking car. I still get a lot of compliments from people.
- It is a well set up dual purpose car. It is comfortable enough on the street and not embarrassing on the track.
- I have most of the receipts
- I have owned the car for 10 years or so
- The body and paint is straight but not perfect. I had it resprayed 2 years ago and they did an ok job. However, it is presentable
- There is a hole in the top. The top will need to be replace before the next raining season
- There are holes in the passenger seat
- The driver seat is a little worn
- There is an oil leak. It bugs the s--- out of me. I think it is from the oil filler tube.
- If the buyer is CA, smog is on you. The car does not have the necessary smog equipment. I have some of the parts, you will need to put them on.
I have another miata with LS3 swap. I need to spend more time and attention on that vehicle.
Price$9,500 obo$8000- Considering I have $7k in the motor ($4300 for the head alone), there are not that many miles on the motor or coil overs. I have 4 other cars, this car was not used for commute.

GLWS, that’s a great price for a Miata around here. Plenty of idiots with beater Miatas are asking similar prices for a lot less car.
Jei at Blacktrax is a great tuner - he tuned my K-swap and the results are phenomenal. He uses a Dynapack, so his numbers are going to be conservative if you’re comparing to other styles of dyno.
