1993 Miata LE - $5400
1993 Mazda Miata LE (salvage title)
109k miles
Well sorted, super fun little turbo miata. It's not a show car, and I wouldn't buy it because it's an LE, but if you want a reliable fun turbo-miata that handles like a go-cart, this might be a good option for you. My dad bought the car from the autobody shop that rebuilt it early in it's life after being hit in the *** end. He had pictures of the before / after, but I couldn't find them in his estate when he passed. My memory is that the hit was high on the rear, damaging both tail lights, the deck lid, the rear finish panel and rear fenders. I don't believe it damaged the A-arms or frame rails. I've owned it for 15 or more years, and never had an issue with it.
Engine:
BEGI Turbo - Garret 2554
Braineack built Megasquirt
Boost gauge in A-pillar
AEM Wide Band 02 sensor in A-pillar
Supra green top injectors (cleaned, flow tested)
BMW throttle position sensor
AFM delete (GM sensor)
NGK Blue Wires
Magnaflow high flow Cat
3.5 inch Racing Beat stainless cat back exhaust
Suspension:
Complete refresh of all suspension components:
New frankenstein bolts
A-arms stripped and painted, zerk grease fittings
Poly bushings from 949 racing
New sway bar endlinks
Fat Cat Motorsports Miata LE suspension kit:
- NB Tophats (adds suspension travel)
- Pillow bushings
- Progressive bump stops for the LE
Flying Miata top hat shims
Flying Miata stainless steel frame rails
Hard Dog roll bar
Imitation CIBIE headlights with high-output LED bulbs
Body - 7/10
Car looks great from 10 feet away, but up close you can see scratches and other defects. Most notably is a crease low on the passenger door where I got too close to the Ducatti's foot peg. Paint on the spoiler is faded.
Interior - 8/10
The seats are not torn and present very well. On other LE's I've seen, the bolsters are worn and the leather is torn in multiple places. These have no rips or tears, and still provide the factory support.
The original red mats are there, but they show some discoloring.
Recent maintenance:
Shifter rebuild:
- all new bushings / gaskets / fulcrum ball.
- Oil replaced with synthetic grease
- New weighted ball shift ****.
Engine:
New:
- Timing belt
- Water pump
- Thermostat
- Radiator hoses
- Valve cover gasket
- Viton CAS gasket
Issues:
- A/C components are all in place, and were working when the Megasquirt was installed. The Megasquirt needs to be modified to re-enable the A/C system. I haven't bothered, since I don't use it.
- Wheels are 14 inch daisies wearing Toyo T1R tires. All four tires are close to end of life, and the buyer should plan to replace them. There aren't good DOT legal tires in the 14 inch size, so I would plan to put some lightweight 15 inch wheels on to provide a broad choice of good tires.
