1991 N.A. NA Red for sale in MI
Hello all,
The time has come to sell my 1991 Miata. Details about the car are listed below:
Year: 1991
Color: Red
Trans: 5 speed like God intended
Miles: 156,0xx (only driving it very rarely, so I expect this to change basically none)
Basic description: I've owned the car for 5 years. Each of the 5 winters I've owned it has been garaged, with the last 3 winters also covered+garaged. I have not tracked or AutoX'd the car (sadly). I have done oil changes and replaced brake pads/rotors as necessary. The timing belt was serviced ~500 miles before I purchased it at ~149k miles. Originally the plan was to swap to a 1.8l, upgrade the drivetrain, trubo and zoomzoom. But then the wife complained she doesnt like driving a manual in metro Detroit traffic, so we compromised on a Trans Am with a slushbox. If you have the desire, the time, and want it then this car seems like a perfect base for a good build.
The good:
This car has been incredibly reliable for 5 years.
The car has always started in 5 cranks or less after each winter in storage.
The car still drives and handles very well.
The interesting:
I fab'd a custom cowl intake. The original stuff is sold with the car if desired.
I installed a front strut brace. I like the effect on turn-in and mid corner adjustment.
I painted the valve cover. It looks good.
A set of adjustable (KYB i think) shocks come with the car. These are new, in box and never installed.
A set of Bosch injectors come with the car. They are used from a friend, but I never installed them.
I replaced the clutch rubber line with a stainless steel braided line.
I replaced the clutch slave cylinder.
The not so great:
The radio gets staticky sometimes like there's a wire loose. Tape deck worked fine last time I tried it.
The top has some small tears and will leak in heavy rain.
The rear window has gone opaque and has a tear that has been fixed with packing tape.
Clutch is to my knowledge original, but may be near the end of life.
Vibration from the powertrain while shifting makes me suspect an engine mount it going bad, but I have not confirmed or disproved this.
There is a door ding from some asshat in an old 5 series at the golf course who thought it was more important to load his clubs easily than to respect other people's property.
The A/C does not work. When I purchased it it "only needed a refill" but I never felt I needed it and thus never checked that out.
Small rust spot behind/below passenger door.
What comes with the car:
The aforementioned car cover w/bag, shocks, injectors, and original intake equipment.
A Dr. Colorchip paint repair kit which I haven't used yet.
Some nice Mazda seat belt pads.
The sale:
$3000 obo
I am willing to meet serious, interested buyers within a 100 mi radius from the Detroit suburb of Novi.
I will consider trades for a pontoon boat in working condition with a trailer, or a mansion with a pool in the US Virgin Islands.
I can provide a few more pictures.
