You're correct.

My viewpoint is a little different. I could've showed the video going only until 6-8, with good AFR numbers - that wouldve been better for sale like you mentioned. But I showcased how the car currently acts, when the accelerator is held down all the way, it pushes too much boost.

However, if you want good reliable boost as it sits, pull off at 6-8 boost - you have that option.

Look - the car has low miles, with quality parts, no check engine lights, all maintenance done, and it sits here for sale for $11,800.

Yeah I have a lot more respect for people on youtube making drive videos with their guages showing. It's a lot tougher than I thought

I also said this in a previous post. He probably also thinks he can just put bigger injectors in it too and that'll solve the lack of fueling issue.
I laughed so hard watching that gauge go so lean that I couldn't respond. It was almost as funny as the thought of buying this car that not only has been a victim to such abuse, but was driven on a road surface like that.
GLWS...not.

No Miata with a damaged motor that doesn't run right is worth $11.8k.

I struggled to sell my MSM in similar condition, but with better parts, and running 100% correctly for that price. For months.

With what you've shown here, this is more like a $7k car. At best.

I'm not trying to beat you down, i feel really bad for you, honestly. Someone took you for a ride, and it's a shame that such a beautiful car has such a setup on it that's obviously not performing properly.

$11,800...I'll give you $3,000 cash for it right now. I'll even mail you the pistons to keep as a souvenir when I remove them.

I dont hate you, I feel angry that you took that car to a garage to have it straightened out, and they charged you a good chunk of cash..for what? You got ripped off. If I were you, I'd go back there and fly off the handle.

None taken, but I find that surprising. Did your car have high miles?

Weird thing is, I have 3 offers on the car (two willing to fly in, one local from Ohio)...all who contacted me through this site. They asked me very specific questions, I told them everything I knew. They knew a SHITTON more than I did, and it showed.

Weirdly, all three offered me $10k.

You all think I'm an idiot, and epitomize what you hate from an OP, but I'm trying to humor you all by providing information as best as I can. It's quite fun actually

I said similar condition.

70k ish miles. Guy who bought it ran a 12.7 quarter mile in it, without the car eating **** even once.

That sounds like a really good deal for 7k. I remember looking up MSMs, and they were hovering around 11-12 when i looked a while back. I wish that was available when I was looking.

$8-12k offers are probably fair. The new owner may walk away with a great deal that only requires minimal troubleshooting or retune, or if the pessimistic suspicions are true, they may get stuck dumping a lot of time and money into the car to salvage it's low mile chassis with a new engine and more reliable fuel and boost control.

A "retune" will involve the purchase and installation of a standalone engine management system. And a fuel system capable of keeping up.

Or you reduce the mechanical boost - run the car with 6-8 psi for years to come.

Clearly not, watching the video you posted.

Why don't you reduce the boost?

When I mentioned reducing boost by increasing exhaust restriction, and adjusting the wastegate actuator - I got a response saying "lol, what"

Check my IMGUR link - there's a pic from the manual which talks about adjusting boost using washers.

I'm obviously not as smart as you experts.

Because I don't want my buyer base to cut in half.

1) I want a strong reliable cruiser, with easy consistent power, and I dont want to watch my boost levels, just mash it to the ground. <- this guy would probably benefit from reducing boost.

2) Miata turbo community - or any turbo DIY'er <- This guy will probably undo anything I do to reduce boost, as he will probably throw out the VooDoo in replacement of MS.

I don't think your buyer base is going to decrease if you make your car run right. On the contrary, it'll increase.

Nobody on earth is looking at "This car is destroying itself, but hey! 12psi!" as a bonus.
