The hardtop and quarter panel scared me going into this. The hardtop was actually quite easier than I thought, as the radius of the curves isn’t tight until the B Pillar, and by there, the surface area is a lot smaller, so it’s easier to stretch/manhandle the material.

It's no whiteclaw wrap...

Looking good! Is it your first time wrapping a car? My NA was a challenge but once you understand how the vinyl likes to stretch and move, its not so bad.

Just read through you whole thread last night and finishing this morning. Great stuff and answered a lot of question I would have had in the near future. Keep it up!

The pattern is printed on 3M, not Avery like the white. Then, it is laminated, so it doesn't 'breathe' out the bubbles and small wrinkles as quickly/easily, nor does it stretch like single layer color change wrap material. It is a whole different animal. By the time I reached the pink coner on the rear driver's side, I was more familiar, so that corner is perfect, but yes, there is a wrinkle on the 'power bulge'. I probably should have started with the door, or hardtop, but oh well. Luckily, the hood will be covered in "Tarmac 88", Keegan Engineering" class, number, etc.

First time wrapping a whole car, yes. I've only got experience with commercial vehicles and small panels of Supermiata orange on this car previously.

Yeah I didn't mean to take that as offense to you. I'm sure its better than work I could do. Just sucks when product doesn't lay down nicely.

doward 01-31-2020 03:42 PM

After the solo attempt on the hood, I conned my cousin into swinging by yesterday to help me lay the drivers side as one piece. A second set of hands was absolutely amazing. That giant panel took us about 45 minutes.
Today I’m finishing up the last bits, hardtop, front bumper, wing.

im still undecided on cutting the rear bumper, but I have plenty of material if I want to wrap the whole thing.

Trying to balance the “keeping it clean” with “showing all the love to friends/partners/sponsors/sanctioning body requirements” is hard.

NASA minimum 10”x1.5” numbers are mocked up.

I plan to have a Keegan Engineering across the bottom of the door, the normal “MAZDA” on the qtr panel, Hoosier above the front tire, Tarmac 88 on the door, plus find room for 949 Racing, Supermiata, Xida, Singular, Trackspeed, Gloc and the WeDrIvEHaRdEr nasa stickers.

Just need to fire up the sawzall now and throw together the new front duct. Thanks again!

Z33Taxi 02-20-2020 09:05 PM

Whats the weight of the front bar vs the oem unit?

Scaxx 02-21-2020 12:03 AM

I know it was around an 8.5lb drop on the first iteration. There was some more material taken off of the main plates in the more recent bars, so expect somewhere between 8.5lb-9lb weight drop off the front end. Mat can give you the exact numbers.

Efini~FC3S 02-21-2020 10:58 AM

Do you use rivnuts for the top attachment of the airdam to the OEM bumper and if Yes, how to prevent them from pulling through the bumper plastic...?

Plastic piece with the two metal pieces that you take off are 12lb
Center cut out piece 1.9lb

Bar you bolt in the place is 5

Weight savings-8.9lb

doward 02-24-2020 06:42 PM

Decisions.
245 RR on Silver 9.5" Freeform
205 R7 on...???
(I won't have any 225 R7s unless I win them from contingency. I already have 205s to run half a season on)

Enkei does 15x8 RPF1 in Matte Blue and Victory Blue.

Victory in rear, matte in front because it'll be covered in brake dust anyways.

Thanks. Now i'm looking to see if either of those colors are available in S2000 fitment. Jerk.

Bronze bearing retrofit done.
Engine should be shipping in the next few days.

I’d like to get a coat of paint on the interior, replace the harness with a yellow Schroth Profi 2x2 and install some Koolmat.
Then it’s on to the brakes. I have a stack of Oem shape G-Loc, but would love to put a red Wilwood Dynapro Gen2 Trackspeed 11.75” Kit in here for the swag. I’m not entirely sure my sprint/tt/HPDE usage will show much benefit, but they’re parts I sell and the penalty is relatively small(.2 p:w).

doward 03-13-2020 06:50 PM

I got the suspension refresh finished up and put the car on the ground and got to roll it out into the sunlight for the first time since laying any of the wrap. I am much excite.

still a good list remaining, but this is nice little pick me up.

What class are aftermarket brakes a penalty for? I may have to rethink my approach now that I'm down 50+hp.

Correct. You can also see modifiers by opening the classing submission form and changing the class you want to be in. The modifier check boxes will change appropriately.

Corner workers are going to hate you. At least initially...?

doward 03-19-2020 05:56 PM

Welp, the start of the season is suffering nearly 100% cancellations/postponements, moving back to fit my timeline. The state next door(PA) just ordered the shuttering of all non life sustaining businesses. Crazy times.

I received some goodies recently, and played with them like a child.
The logistics of running Superlites in the midwest means running some funky narrow/low offset wheel for rain tires, or bolt on adapters, and I just don't want to deal with either.

8/9/9.5"" wheels clear the Dynapro easily enough with a slip on 5mm in some cases, and I think I still get a whole season out of a single set of front pads.
So I've decided to run an 11.75" Gen2 TSE Wilwood Dynapro kit.
My planned low-car-count and HPDE wheel/tire combo is all here now too. 245/40/15 Toyo RR on 9.5" Freeform.
Tarmac 88's tire machines will be here next week, so there is hope of having the entire roller done by the end of march!

I posted some pics of 245 RC1/9.5” on an NA earlier. Easy with race camber and a roll.

Had the pad sret up again for a couple customers, through the daily on it for fun. 2649lbs with me in it and a full tank. Soft top delete, but otherwise fully equipped NB2 Sport pkg w/ABS and BOSE. I am also about to add a hitch and bike rack, so I expect that to be ~2680 in a worst case scenario. LOL. The 900/500 Xida from Tia(the TT6 car) can't come soon enough, but that car is stored in the trailer at Midwest Miata Parts and it has been too wet/muddy to get to the trailer.

Snagged a set of of qually scrubbed 215/580/15 Hoosier S75 from a local FP racer. These will be what I use to attempt my essentially only remaining goal for 2020 track season, depending on schedule and COVID19 dwindling:
1:36 Gingerman
1:35 Mid O
2:14 NCM
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b2e2dec12.jpeg

I received my tire machines on Friday, and have been assembling, testing, playing with them over the weekend. This allowed me to get caught up on customer wheel/tire packages and get my 245 RRs mounted up. These will be my HPDE/warm up and ST5 tires if there are not enough participants for Hoosier contingency. I have 1.5 sets of sticker 205 R7s from last season's winnings to use in TT and populated ST races. Goal is to win a set of 225/45s and switch over at some point, probably 2021 at this point.
