If you're going full #RaceCar you could just wire up a switch panel to control things like fuel pump, ignition, fans, etc.
You can just grab an MS3x and a wiring harness and run wires for the essentials like fuel and ignition control, sensors and such, bypassing most everything from the stock harness.
It'd be hard to do all this without a standalone IMHO. Either way, lots of work but dedicated track cars tend to go through this procedure anyways.
I won't lie, I have absolutely no clue where to even start if I were gonna try and wire this thing up. I don't have the foggiest idea how or what is needed, so unless there is a step by step guide to doing something im lost.
I like the idea of keeping the car as its all built, just crispy. Maybe I will start looking through the engine bay to see how bad things are. I know the coils are toast, master/brake reservoir are toast, steering column was on fire so the boots are gone, brake line, etc.
I have not found the leak yet, but if the line did indeed split im not sure how I could have avoided it. The line runs across the motor and over and along the turbo.
Sixshooter, why not NC love? I thought they were capable cars?
Very helpful visual representation. Ha. I had just read the chassis was quite capable to put down fast lap times, albeit not in as fun of a manner as the NB or NA. Im worried about lighting myself on fire again if I go turbo, so a NC seemed like a logical option.
Wow, crazy turn of events. The build thread was going super good too! I am sure whether you decide to keep it or scrap it, youll be back on track in no time.
Quick update for everyone. Car is going to be junked. I am in the process of starting to pull parts. Once I have a game plan of what I want for my next chassis I will post up the performance parts, but if anyone needs any body parts, misc engine things, the car will be parted out before being scrapped. I will disclose all things that were saved, and any defects from the accident will be made known. Ill also clean things up too haha.
Pics below show what im dealing with. There is oil, was on mani, pooled up on things, I can't find a leak yet. the oil feed line is scorched like a mother..... so im working through the crispy to see if a leak happened. Other thought was what if the oil drain line (new btw) had a leak, if it was possibly pressurized it could spray oil? That could explain how the fire got below the car.
it doesnt seem like it would be that awful to replace wiring and get the car back up and running.. the NB harnesses are modular in designs so just source the segments of harness that you need and runnit IMO.
Padlock, where was this knowledge 2 days ago? Come on man.......
Kidding. Sooo I mulled that over for awhile. What is more work, trying to rebuild what I have or starting over. My concerns were finding all the little things that melted, plugs on the motor, hoses, all the stuff behind the dash I hadn't even gotten to yet, all my interior was melted, the master, reservoir, brake lines compromised possibly. Not to mention things like the steering column were done for, etc. Then I started to do this....
Part out is underway. I have committed to it. I am going to try a new N/A build, not sure of the chassis I want yet. Goal is to go back to a reliable simple track car I can just put some miles on.

In reality, as in, the real world...
The NC gives up no fun compared to the NA/NB, unless your idea of fun is "what disgusting rattles is my penalty box making today?" It's still the nimble car you know and love, just with a better interior, the ability to fit manpants tire, and a motor platform that is several light years ahead of the BP pile of trash.
End of a car.. it was a sad day yesterday. Body has been removed from the garage. I can now park my DD in the garage again and work on getting these parts sold to help fund the next project. It was without a doubt the best car I have ever owned.
Small update. I have a new car.... .drum roll..........
2000 vette in ugly green, paint is horrible, tires are shot, needs new clutch hydraulics and the infamous harmonic damper. I am going to spend some time cleaning this up and using it as a DD/ weekend car. I just had a second baby so I have a feeling track time is out the window for a little while. I will see how this operates, but I am confident I will have a Miata sometime again. This forum has been a wealth of knowledge and I truly appreciate all the help I have received over the years. I will continue to be a lurker on here.
