Here's the cheater bend vald, suck on my 3.5" diameter pipe.
Then I noticed this. What the hell Hawk? Is this what you road race guys mean when you say pad transfer layer? Both sides of the car did this.
Here are the diff mounts on the subframe. I really REALLY dont want the welds to tear out since the force the pinion wants to move is up that means if it rips out its putting a hole in the gas tank.
And the diff side, it weighs almost as much as the whole PPF, mazda had the right idea when saving weight I guess. On the other hand, its down low weight and I'm going to need ballast anyways.
This is all I had, I get proper hardware monday.
Never. *******. Fails. If I ******* paint something I ALWAYS have to make a field revision.
Made the transmission mount moar schookum.
Pro tip, this is how you hold up the brake line so it doesnt drain when you drop the rear sub frame. The real pro tip is to have some real ******* inverted flare caps because **** a whole bunch of getting the rearmost hardline holder upper back in the car. Was literally 2 minutes from wanting to roll the car out of the garage and torch it.
And the shifter boot, cant forget that... I ordered some TPU filament for the printer so I can make something less shitty soon.
Pictures of the printed turbo inlet for partially my reference. I want to make a new one thats a little more rigid and flows a bit better.
And I test drove it. However much power its got right now is way too much for old *** RS3s in 2nd gear, just blows em right off.
Drove it at the test and tune saturday. Getting it on the trailer that morning in the snow was hard... It hits wastegate pressure by 2600rpms and I made all the small gears in the torsen smaller the first time I tried to actually launch it.
Also, this fell out when changing to the race tires. I need to figure out how to buy one or just a while bearing. Xida Torrington bearing race for those wondering.
QFTT I had loads of Pro level drivers in my region when I started out and there's nothing like that level of competition to raise your game. Bring it Leafy!
Or is it because aidan's exhaust comment? In all honesty I quit autocrossing when I started tracking for the same reason. That said, I have never denied just how challenging autocross is. You have to be good to get it right in three runs of just seconds. I think the reality is you need another race CAR for the track.
Solo is one of those things you get....or you don't and to race at the level you are wanting to race at, you have to "get it."
It's a tremendous amount of commitment, work, money and just effort in general. And if you need to justify it in terms of "Seat time" then it's not the sport for you.
The people who look down their nose at Solo have never done it right or they have never done it in the right car. I have competed at high levels of multiple forms of motorsport. Some with more seat time, some with less. I have NEVER gotten out of any other car with the "shakes" like my autocross car gives me every time I drive it.
I hate to see you go, I hope you reconsider but if you do go I hope the car ends up in the hands of someone who want's to campaign it Nationally....it's a very capable car and with just a little more time and refinement, could be VERY fast.
I used to get it. I'm not sure why I dont any more. I think I just got burnt out having to go to literally every event real car working or not. ES was definitely not fun, I could win the local class on my second run, top 10% of pax, in totally not the right car, and just go, welp I'm satisfied with that being as fast as the car can go, wish I could go home. Even getting to run an STR ND, run right with the fast guys out of the gate, but it just wasnt doing it for me. Not for using my day from 4am till 8pm.
Oh that diff is made from the parts of 2 broken diffs, because of how the T1 works you need all the small gears to exist in order to center the output splines. It's going to be fine.
