I might know why you have exhaust knock. Your new turbo has different geometry than your prior. I mentioned this in the MK thread
Exactly, I remember the images.
I did pull the turbine and compressor housings.
Turbine approximately 65.5 x 56
Compressor approximately 70 x 58.5
I didn't try for super accurate measurements, just wanted to see how they compared.
The same as my last turbo, the 2 turbine housings are interchangeable, except for the fact that Lars didn't build the exhaust for the larger housing. It still fits better than any big aftermarket exhaust I have ever used, only an occasional knock on a hard launch.
Your turbine wheel specs are the same as mine- which is typical of all eBay .63 AR t3 turbo turbines. Though the compressor is similar to Garrett T04B (70 x 55.4) - which I think is what vitamin jended up with in his eBay BB turbo. Are the wheel and housing significantly larger than your prior T3? Curious to see the spool difference.
The compressor is the same, I could bolt my old .48 housing on the new turbo and have the exact same turbo I have been running for the last couple years.
The spool difference from just the turbine housing is significant. It doesn't have the same snap, but it sure comes on strong. Perhaps I can beat the traffic next week and have some passes to waste.
Thanks Carlos. Totally forgot to reply to your text the other day, my bad, been insanely busy.
BTW the widebody sti I've been doing installs on is almost done just need to drop in new fuel pump and finish tuning (ran outa fuel last night), and he can't wait to hit (your) track, I'm gonna tell him to find you when he goes so y'all can line em up
Ok, ok, I wanted to freshen up the brakes and swap out the normal headlight for the HID one now that I got a replacement ballast. I think I will leave it on stands before I go score some pads and rotors. You know, to even things up a bit
Also made 5th in the "Top 20 packages list" last Wednesday night, not my words, but that's what she said. I didn't even know that was a thing until my friend mentioned me there.
I left myself wide open there and nobody even made a wisecrack?
How about, you know the best package is the smallest one in this context?
Or maybe, dood, the best package is the shortest amount of time, like fractions of a second!
I was too nervous to post. I couldn't decide if that meant you had a really nice sausage, or if she was joking. Either way, I was happy that your wife ranks your package so highly. There are a lot of nice ones out there.

So you are saying his wife's seen a lot of packages? That might be going too far.
Actually, my wife had no idea that the girl with the timeslips was checking out everybody's package.
However, now she's just blabbing to all her friends that I have the 5th best package.
If she only realized that the 5th best package only lasted .039 seconds, I thought Al Bundy was bad. It is actually the difference between my dial in time and my actual E.T. added to my reaction time, I hit that .001 light during elimination last time. People were impressed because it is unusual for a "gear jammer" to make that list, almost all "jackpot" and "comp rod," those guys have electronic boxes to launch.
I don't even have a package today boy, won't my wife be shocked later tonight
My POS car, won't be gettin' too far. The clutch line failed today, right at the light to get into the track. I actually got stuck for one light cycle, pumping didn't help, had to give it a minute, then one engagement is all I got. Sure wish this happened a couple days ago. Oh well, no races until August now. maybe I will go visit Vlad, pretty sure they run every week there.
Sounds like it was carnage day at Sears Point. A couple guys from an Audi FB group that I'm on went up there and blew up their cars making their first run.
If you have a couple hundred thousand miles on your car and have the motor out or the head off. Do yourself a favor and change the little clutch hose, maybe get one of the nice braided lines from TSE or 949. It is a pain to get to the lower fitting with the motor in, unless you eliminate the coiled hard line.

let me fix that for ya:
