Tom, if you want to build a multi rotor, I will let you pick through all my housings and end plates. I don't have any solutions for an eccentric shaft though.
Haven't opened the downpipe yet, but a ton of radial play on the compressor wheel. Can't really complain, I think the turbo states 20 or 25 psi working pressure. Not to mention how many 1/4 mile passes it has endured, going on the 3rd season. Can't decide if I should try a different one or just order the same unit.
$188, shipping and tax included, hopefully the spool doesn't suck too bad, and it clears my hood.
Link? I want to see the ad for listed specs- and what you actually get. Mine was as-advertised- essentially equal to a 50trim T4 compressor in a 50AR housing and Stage III turbine wheel in a 63AR housing.
I am hesitant to post a link, not actually having seen (ran) the turbo. I hopefully got a similar unit with a slightly larger .63 a/r turbine side. I would hate to think someone clicked on my link before I see the thing and a bunch of us order the wrong thing.
When it arrives, I will post pictures and the link, explaining what I looked for and if the ad was accurate or why it was not.
Here is what I looked for in the listing.
First, the crappy, almost non-existent lip on the compressor outlet.
Next, the very minor lip, on the compressor inlet.
Also, this was advertised as a cxracing brand. The description was inaccurate on the point of the compressor wheel size, claimed 3", actually 2.75, but it looked the same as mine. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the turbine housing itself, if I am not happy, I will swap out for my .48 a/r housing. The exact same turbine wheel, which was accurate in the description.
Drove it yesterday, the spool doesn't seem too bad, seems fast (but it always does after a week of driving the work truck.) The exhaust rattled like a freaking jackhammer though. Fortunately my MKTURBO v bands allow all kinds of movement, had to loosen all 3 of them to get it right. Now the fit is nice, even with the .63 housing.
Ok, so I still get the occasional knock on the driver's side of the transmission tunnel, but only under a hard launch. It's not going any further towards the tranny, I can live with it.
I definitely gave up a little spool, need to get a flat 4th gear pull somewhere/how.
I might know why you have exhaust knock. Your new turbo has different geometry than your prior. I mentioned this in the MK thread- the .48AR and .63AR turbos have a different angle on the neck from the turbine inlet flange that moves the outlet over away from the head.
Your turbines new (left) and old/prior:
Which supports what I found after buying both eBay turbos with .63AR (left) and .48AR turbines:
As you said, the v-band adjustability allowed you to adjust for the fit. Did you happen to pull housings and measure wheel inducer/exducer on the new turbine/compressor?
